RaipurPrime Minister Narendra Modi says that farmers should be rewarded for their hard work before their sweat dries. Fulfilling Modi's promise and pursuing the path of good governance, the Sai government has given concrete shape to this statement through the Krishak Unnati Yojana. With Holi just around the corner, farmers have received every penny of their hard work. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai will transfer the difference in the price of paddy, at the rate of ₹3,100 per quintal, to the bank accounts of the state's farmers under the Krishak Unnati Yojana at a large farmers' conference held in Rahangi village of Bilha block on February 28th. This amount will be transferred to 252,800 farmers in the state. This is the third consecutive lump sum payment by the Sai government. With this, the total payment to the state's farmers under the Krishak Unnati Yojana will reach ₹35,000 crore. As promised, the Chhattisgarh government is making the Krishak Unnati Yojana payment just before the festival of Holi. This means that the farmers' festival of Holi will be filled with more enthusiasm. The Chief Minister is also going to Bilaspur to paint himself in the colors of Holi with the farmers. Considering the three rounds of paddy procurement and other government incentives, approximately 1.5 lakh crore rupees have been disbursed to farmers so far. The budget figures reveal how much this amount has contributed to the massive economic boom in the rice bowl. This year, the estimated per capita income is 10 percent higher than last year. With inflation rising at a rate of approximately 3 percent and per capita income increasing so rapidly, it is clear that opportunities for farmers to invest in their farms are also rapidly emerging. Through the Krishak Unnati Yojana, Chhattisgarh farmers are receiving the best price for paddy in India. This is in line with the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee, which advocates for fair prices for farmers. The Krishak Unnati Yojana not only provides farmers with a strong economic position, it has also strengthened the foundation of the agricultural economy. The Krishak Unnati Yojana has reversed the disillusionment of farmers with agriculture due to low returns compared to input costs and excessive labor. While approximately 2.342 million farmers sold paddy in 2022-23, this year 2.528 million farmers sold paddy. This represents a significant shift, with nearly two lakh farmers joining farming after the scheme's launch. The scheme benefits not only farmers but also those belonging to the Reghas, sharecroppers, forest rights certificate holders, public trust members, and members of Special Backward Tribes. Thus, the scheme has emerged as a major pillar of inclusive development. The Krishak Unnati Yojana has also shown farmers the path to investing in agriculture. The Prime Minister's GST reforms benefited farmers the most, as tractors and other agricultural equipment became cheaper. The Krishak Unnati Yojana provided farmers with the necessary capital to take advantage of these benefits. The Krishak Unnati Yojana has also encouraged farmers to cultivate pulses in addition to paddy. In this way, this scheme advances crop diversification. When our farmers are strong, our rural economy is strengthened. When the rural economy is strong, the foundation of the urban economy is strengthened. The Krishak Unnati Yojana has been a major reason for the rapid economic growth seen in Chhattisgarh. The visionary thinking of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai made this scheme even more useful for farmers. He decided to disburse the entire amount in a single installment. When a payment is made in installments, no concrete benefits can be derived from it, and the risk of it being spent on items that are not very useful increases. Receiving a lump sum amount allows farmers to spend their money on the most important things.
