A new chapter of administrative decentralisation has been created in Chhattisgarh in the last four years. A new light of development will shine in the newly formed districts due to effective administration made possible by the administrative decentralisation. The benefits of the public welfare schemes prepared for development of the citizens of the state will reach the people living in the remotest parts as well. Administrative decentralisation has been chalked out with the intention of fulfilling the aspirations of every section of the society. Backward and underdeveloped areas will also get an opportunity to come to par with the pace of development.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has taken the decision of administrative decentralisation to further strengthen the democratic process in the state and increase the people's participation in governance and administration as well as increase the reach of schemes to the common man. With the implementation of this decision, these areas have got a new environment to move forward in the path of development. Six new districts, 19 sub-divisions and 77 tehsils have been created in Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
Work has been started in all the six newly formed districts of Chhattisgarh. Collectors and Superintendents of Police have been posted in these districts as well. District officers of other departments have also been appointed. After the new districts came into existence, people have started getting the benefits of welfare schemes in the newly formed districts along with revenue administration.
Chhattisgarh is the ninth largest state of the country geographically. Formed on 1 November 2000, this state initially had 16 districts. In view of the administrative requirement, two new districts namely Narayanpur and Bijapur were formed here in the year 2007. Similarly, on January 1, 2012, 9 new districts namely Sukma, Kondagaon, Balod, Bemetara, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Gariaband, Mungeli, Surajpur and Balrampur-Ramanujganj were also created.
The Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district was inaugurated on 10 February under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel. In the year 2022, five more districts:- Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Sakti were commenced. Apart from this, 77 new tehsils and 19 sub-divisions have been created and at present, 33 districts, 108 sub-divisions, 227 tehsils are functional in the state. Tehsildars, sub-divisional officers have also been posted at all these places.
Chief Minister Shri Baghel started working with the thought that the general public should reap the maximum benefits of government schemes. The day-to-day government works of common citizens should be settled easily, it should take minimum time so that the citizen does not have to make rounds of the government office. Moving forward with this intention, it was necessary that the administration should go closer to the people, there should be more and more decentralisation. Keeping this in mind, the Chief Minister started working towards the creation of new districts, sub-divisions and tehsils according to the administrative requirements and the age-old demands of the residents, and making announcements from time to time as per the expectations of the people and implementing them in the grass root level. Revenue Minister Shri Jaisingh Agarwal has said that administrative decentralisation will increase public convenience, and will greatly increase the pace of development.
