Officials stated the prolonged tenure of officers at the same postings had created operational stagnation and posed challenges to institutional transparency and tax collection efficiency. In several cases, officers had remained in the same posting for over a decade, with some serving continuously in their home districts. According to the department, of the 35 sanctioned Deputy Commissioner (State Tax) posts, 17 officers have now been reassigned following their promotion. Among the remaining eight officers, several had completed between 8 to 10 years in Raipur alone. In addition, 178 State Tax Officers and Inspectors were found to have remained in the same locations for four to five years, with over 70 serving in their home districts throughout that period. Commercial Tax Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary stated the transfers were part of a broader effort to decentralise administrative functions and strengthen the tax governance framework. He noted that the region, once synonymous with Naxal violence, is now emerging as a national model of development, employment generation, and self-reliance. During the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai presented a visionary plan to transform Chhattisgarh into a Rs 75 lakh crore economy by the year 2047.
