Anandram Sidar, a farmer from Kodkel village in the Lalungha development block of Raigarh district, has emerged as an example. He has grown from a mere 22,000 rupees in profits to an income of 3 lakh rupees by cultivating marigold flowers.
Previously, Anand Ram cultivated traditional rice. He earned a total of 31,000 rupees from his 10 quintals of produce, leaving him with only 22,000 rupees after costs. This low income left him financially stressed. During this time, under the guidance of the Horticulture Department, he began cultivating flowers.
Taking advantage of the National Horticulture Mission's "Marigold Area Expansion Scheme," Anandram began cultivating marigold on 0.400 hectares of land. The department provided him with training on improved seeds, fertilizer management, and modern techniques. As a result of this scientific cultivation, he produced approximately 44 quintals of marigold flowers in 2025-26.
Anandram earned over 3 lakh rupees thanks to a good market price. This high profit in a short period of time has significantly transformed his financial situation. Now, he is self-reliant and able to provide a better life for his family.
Anand Ram's success has inspired nearby farmers. Many farmers in the area are now turning to marigold and other cash crops instead of paddy. Anand Ram says that while it was initially risky, his fortunes have changed with the support of the department and the right technology.
Floriculture is rapidly expanding in the district due to the active initiatives and plans of the Horticulture Department. The department is continuously providing training and technical assistance to farmers, which is giving a new direction to the rural economy.

Chhattisgarh announces Digital Census 2027: 51,000 employees gather, going door-to-door to collect information

Raipur. The first phase of the 2027 Census of India has begun in Chhattisgarh. The owner of Thakur Petrochemicals is accused of stealing and selling 90 metric tons of LPG gas worth approximately ₹1.5 crore. An employee of the company has been arrested, while the owner and director are absconding. The entire incident occurred in the Singhora police station area.
In fact, in December 2025, the police seized six gas capsule trucks carrying 90 metric tons of LPG. Due to the lack of security at the police station and the potential for an accident, the administration handed these trucks over to the company for safekeeping. However, taking advantage of this trust, the company management hatched a conspiracy to steal the gas.
The gas was emptied at the plant and then sold in the market.According to information, on March 30, 2026, the trucks were handed over to the company in the presence of the Food Department. The trucks were then taken to the plant in Abhanpur, Raipur. Here, the gas was emptied into the plant's bullet tanks within eight days. After filling the tanks, the remaining gas was filled into private tankers and cylinders and sold in the market.
It is alleged that the gas was filled into domestic and commercial cylinders and sold to various agencies without proper bills. Later, the company informed the administration that the gas had leaked.
Investigation reveals a major scam.Police and experts concluded that such a large gas leak was impossible. Documents also revealed that the company had sold significantly more gas than it had purchased. In April, sales of 107 tons were recorded, compared to 47 tons purchased, confirming the scam.
Attempt to destroy evidence, staff arrestedDuring the investigation, the company has also been accused of destroying documents and concealing records. Police have arrested company employee Nikhil Vaishnav, while the main accused, Santosh Singh Thakur, and other directors remain at large. Their search is ongoing.
Police have seized seven tankers, four bullet tanks, 100 cylinders, and numerous documents in connection with the case. Officials say the entire network is being investigated and the absconding suspects will be arrested soon.

Lessons learned from the cruise ship accident! Raipur, 29/ An inspiring initiative has emerged in Sukma district under the Swasthya Bastar Abhiyan, where the health team made commendable efforts to provide better treatment to a patient from a remote and inaccessible area. Raipur, April 29, 2026/ For Padma Kashyap, who lives in Balenga, a small village nestled in the dense forests of Bastar, the past few years have been filled with darkness and uncertainty. But today, there's a smile on Padma's face, and hope shines through her small home. This change has come about thanks to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai's "Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme 2026."
Shadows of darkness amidst conflict
Padma's story is one of struggle and perseverance. After losing her parents at a young age, Padma was left alone at home. With no stable source of income, meeting life's basic needs was a daunting challenge. Amidst this financial hardship, the household electricity bill swelled to ₹9,000. For an orphaned daughter struggling to make ends meet, paying such a substantial amount was impossible. Unable to pay the bill, the household's electricity was on the verge of being cut off, and Padma's future was bleak.
The scheme gave new life
When Padma learned about the state government's electricity bill payment settlement scheme, she saw a glimmer of hope. Given the sensitivity of Padma's case, the scheme provided direct relief of Rs. 4,000 on her outstanding bill. This wasn't just a monetary relief, but a way to make an orphaned daughter feel that her government stood by her. With this assistance, Padma was able to pay her remaining dues and avoid power outages in her home.
Thanks to the Chief Minister, the darkness in my house has been dispelled.
Sharing her joy, Padma says, "When the bill reached 9,000, I thought my house would never be illuminated again. But Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai's scheme helped me. The 4,000 rebate is a huge deal. Today, my house is illuminated again, and I sincerely thank the Chief Minister for this."
A new chapter of trust
Padma Kashyap's story represents thousands of families in Chhattisgarh who, due to financial constraints, were deprived of basic amenities. This policy of the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, demonstrates that the goal of governance is not merely development, but also "Antyodaya," or service to the last person. The light bulb in Padma's home, in the remote forest region of Bastar, is now lit not only by electricity but also by unwavering faith in the government.

Drone Surveillance in Mining Areas Helps Protect Mineral Resources and Safeguard Revenue

Strong Crackdown on Illegal Mining Through Drone Monitoring
High-Resolution Cameras, Night Vision and AI Systems Enable Wide and Accurate Surveillance
Drone Technology Enhances Speed and Precision of Enforcement Action
Major Action in Kanker District with Drone Support; Poclain Machine and Hyva Vehicle Seized
Raipur, 29 April 2026/
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh Government has taken a major and decisive step by adopting technology and innovation to curb illegal mining and unlawful transportation of minerals. As part of this initiative, drone surveillance has now been introduced in mining areas, proving to be an important measure for maintaining law and order, protecting mineral resources, and safeguarding government revenue.
The state government has made its intentions clear that all forms of illegal activity must be eliminated at the root. With the use of modern technology, real-time monitoring in mining zones is now possible, enabling immediate action against illegal excavation, transportation, and related operations. This step will not only prevent revenue losses but also send a strong message to those involved in unlawful trade. Field teams of the Mineral Resource Department had already been taking effective action against illegal mining. However, with the addition of drone technology, both the speed and accuracy of enforcement have increased significantly. Drones can monitor areas within a range of nearly five kilometres and at heights of up to 120 metres, allowing close watch over large and difficult geographical regions. Through drone surveillance, suspicious activities can be identified instantly and action can be taken on the spot, sharply reducing the chances of offenders escaping.
According to officials of the Mineral Resource Department, the drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras, night vision capability, and AI-based analytical systems, ensuring broad and precise surveillance. Even large and remote mining locations can now be monitored with ease.
This initiative clearly reflects that the state government is working with a policy of zero tolerance against illegal mining. The bold decision will not only ensure strict compliance with the law but will also strengthen mineral conservation and create a transparent revenue system. The new drone surveillance arrangement is emerging as a strong example of good governance and technological innovation in the state.
In continuation of this drive, on April 29, 2026, intensive surveillance and a raid operation were conducted using drone technology in the Tehkapaar sand mine area of Kanker district. During the operation, vehicles and equipment involved in illegal excavation and transportation were identified. As soon as drone monitoring began, those engaged in illegal activities abandoned their vehicles and fled the spot.
Thereafter, under the direction of the central flying squad and the Collector (Mining Branch), a special operation was carried out near the banks of the Mahanadi River at the Bhui Gaon boundary. During the action, one chain-mounted Poclain machine JCB (215 LC) and one Hyva vehicle bearing registration number CG08AV0975 were seized.

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan writes letter to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and appreciates Chhattisgarhs preparations for effective implementation of VB-G RAM G

Raipur, April 29, 2026//
