Raipur. Governor Ramen Deka today attended the programme organised at Kopalwani Hearing Impaired School, Semaria on World Disability Day and blessed and encouraged the disabled children. On this occasion, Deka said that the society should be sensitive towards the disabled, respect them and help them in becoming self-reliant. In the programme organised at Kopalwani Hearing Impaired School, Semaria, Governor Shri Deka honoured the students who passed out from the school and are working in self-employment and other fields. He announced to provide 5 computers to this school from his discretionary grant and also announced to personally give Rs 2 lakh to reward the students who performed exceptionally well.

Disabled children are an integral part of society.
Governor Deka said that people with disabilities are also an important part of our society. We must create an environment where they do not feel any kind of barrier. Together, the government and society must create a world for the disabled where they can move forward with respect and confidence. He said that the central and state governments are running schemes for the empowerment of the disabled. Disability pensions provide them financial security. Reservations in government jobs, scholarships, and free assistive devices help them in their education and self-reliance. He said that infrastructure should be made disabled-friendly. Governor Deka appreciated the exhibition of paintings made by handicapped children.
He visited various classes of the school and met the students and also saw the exhibition of paintings made by them and appreciated it. It is noteworthy that on the initiative of the Governor, the paintings made by the handicapped children of this institution are purchased by Lok Bhavan and presented to the guests visiting here. This painting was also presented to President Smt. Draupadi Murmu on her arrival. National Human Rights Commission member Smt. Shatabdi Pandey, President of Vanbandhu Sanstha Smt. Kanta Singhania, Founder of Kopalvani Smt. Padma Sharma along with other guests and parents and students of the school were present in the program.
