Relief to farmers: 15 days extra time given to sell gram, lentil and mustard at MSP
Raipur,: In a major decision to benefit farmers, the central government has extended the minimum support price (MSP) procurement period for chickpea, lentils, and mustard by 15 days. This decision, taken under the price support scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM ASHA), is considered crucial in ensuring farmers receive better prices for their produce.
This decision was made during a high-level video conferencing meeting of state agriculture ministers chaired by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Chhattisgarh's Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Agriculture Production Commissioner Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, and Agriculture Director Rahul Dev participated in the meeting.
The meeting decided that during the 2026-27 Rabi marketing year, farmers will be given 15 days to sell their chickpea, lentil, and mustard produce at the support price. This will help them avoid receiving low market prices and take full advantage of the DACH.
This decision by the central government is being considered an important initiative toward increasing farmers' income and ensuring fair prices for their produce. This will provide special relief to farmers who were unable to sell their produce within the stipulated timeframe.
