The news of a Stepped Gull being spotted has excited birdwatchers and wildlife researchers in Chhattisgarh. The rare winter migratory bird, the Stepped Gull (Larus fuscus barbadensis), has been sighted again at the Ruse Reservoir in Khairagarh after five years. This observation is considered a significant achievement for bird diversity in central India.

This significant discovery was made during a bird walk organized by the Atavi Foundation. According to experts, the Stepped Gull is a rare subspecies of the Lesser Black-backed Gull, which is seen only in select areas of India during winter. Rousay Reservoir is already known for migratory birds like the Common Crane and Eurasian Spoonbill, but the Stepped Gull being spotted further strengthens its ecological importance.

The bird walk, held on December 14th, recorded 51 bird species within just two hours. Another migratory bird, the Sand Martin, was also confirmed during the walk. The program was guided by BNHS-certified field ornithologist Prateek Thakur, while participants included Dr. Dinesh Sinha, Yogendra Sahu, and Somendra Sahu.

This record of the Steppe Gull is also special because it was previously sighted in Bhilai in 2019 and Raipur in 2020. Now, its return to the Ruse Reservoir in 2025 has thrilled experts. This is not just a bird sighting, but a sign of the region's healthy ecosystem.

Experts identified the Steppe Gull based on characteristics such as a lighter inner primary wing, strong wingbars, second-generation median coverts, light brown wings, a deep, slender bill, and a striped head. This incident of the Steppe Gull being spotted is being considered a valuable achievement for bird science in Chhattisgarh.

Raipur . Preparations have intensified for the mega final and closing ceremony of the MP Sports Festival, to be held on December 23, 24, and 25 in the capital Raipur. On Saturday, MP and senior BJP leader Brijmohan Agrawal held a high-level meeting to review the arrangements and provided necessary guidelines to officials and organizers involved in the event. The meeting placed special emphasis on player facilities, security arrangements, and mutual coordination.

The growing recognition of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav is also indicated by a letter from Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, in which he extended his best wishes to MP Brijmohan Agrawal for the event. This is being seen as a testament to the event's prestige as well as a recognition of Agrawal's efforts towards sports development.

According to MP Agarwal, the mega finals will be held on December 23rd and 24th at Subhash Stadium, Spray School, J.N. Pandey School, and the International Swimming Pool. Best wishes to the people of the state on National Energy Conservation Day

Raipur. Extending his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day (December 14), Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has described energy conservation as extremely essential for sustainable development and environmental protection.

He said that judicious, responsible and efficient use of energy not only helps in conserving natural resources but also lays a strong foundation for ensuring a safe and clean future for future generations.

Chief Minister Sai said that in today's era of increasing energy needs, adopting a spirit of conservation is the need of the hour. Energy conservation not only reduces domestic and industrial costs, but also plays an effective role in addressing global challenges like climate change. He said that small efforts, such as turning off unnecessary electrical appliances and using energy-efficient technologies, can bring about significant positive change.

The Chief Minister praised the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, implemented by the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that this scheme is a revolutionary initiative to provide clean and renewable energy to ordinary citizens. Through this scheme, clean energy is being produced by installing solar panels on rooftops, significantly reducing electricity bills and making families energy self-sufficient. Additionally, this scheme is making a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment.

Chief Minister Sai appealed to the people of the state to make energy conservation an integral part of their daily lives. Raipur. The weather in Chhattisgarh remains dry for the time being, but the effects of a cold wave are increasing in some districts of northern Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning stating that the minimum temperature in the state may drop by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius over the next three days. The drop in night temperatures is likely to increase the chill. However, there are indications that the cold wave conditions in the state will gradually decrease after December 14th.

The maximum temperature in the capital, Raipur, was recorded at 29.0 degrees Celsius on Sunday, slightly above normal. The minimum temperature was 12.7 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees below normal. Humidity was recorded at 85 percent in the morning, but dropped to 51 percent by evening. The average wind speed in the city was 2 kilometers per hour, and there was no rainfall in any area.

The effects of the cold were clearly visible in other parts of the state as well. Durg recorded a maximum temperature of 29.6 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state. Ambikapur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures at Mana Airport were 8.6 degrees Celsius, 11.8 degrees Celsius in Bilaspur, 7.8 degrees Celsius in Pendra Road, and 9.0 degrees Celsius in Jagdalpur.

According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions persist in isolated areas of central Chhattisgarh. The weather is expected to remain dry in the state over the next 24 hours, but a cold wave warning has been issued for isolated areas in some districts. Raipur is expected to have partly clear skies on December 14th. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 29 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 12 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, cold weather is expected to increase again in areas of northern Chhattisgarh, including Bilaspur. The health department has advised children and those with weakened immune systems to take special precautions.

Raipur . The 15th annual state-level conference of IRIA CGCON 2025 is being organized under the joint aegis of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) - Chhattisgarh Chapter, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, and the Department of Radiodiagnosis of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital. The two-day conference was inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal. More than 150 radiologists from across the country are participating in the conference. 

In his address during the opening of the conference, Health Minister Jaiswal stated that the integration of AI into radiology and imaging technology could revolutionize the medical field. He added that today, as the world rapidly advances using AI in various fields, the use of AI in medicine, and especially in radiology, has become the need of the hour.
The Health Minister stated that AI-based imaging technology will improve the quality of testing, speed reporting, and enable accurate diagnosis even in remote areas where there is a shortage of radiologist specialists. This will reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities and ensure timely treatment.He called upon the radiologists from across the country gathered at the conference to work towards making healthcare services more accessible, accurate and effective through AI by adopting technological innovations, so that even patients living in remote areas of Chhattisgarh can avail the benefits of state-of-the-art medical facilities. Raipur. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal inaugurated the 120-seater contract hostel of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Raipur on Saturday. The opening of this hostel, built in the Shanti Nagar area, will provide great relief to medical students in terms of accommodation facilities. 

On the occasion of the inauguration, the Health Minister said that the state government is continuously striving to strengthen medical education and health infrastructure. With the opening of this new contract hostel, students will get a safe, well-organized and conducive study environment, which will also improve their educational quality. He said that keeping in mind the convenience of the students, the construction of the permanent hostel of the medical college will also be completed soon. This hostel is equipped with basic amenities, including clean rooms, drinking water, electricity, security, and other necessary facilities. This will especially benefit students coming from distant places.
On this occasion, the students of the medical college thanked the Health Minister and said that by getting the facility of this hostel, their dilemma regarding studies has been resolved and now they will be able to do their studies and medical work well in a better environment.

Raipur.  Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Raipur again after 11 days on Friday night at 9 pm. He was welcomed at the airport by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, Arun Saw, state ministers and BJP leaders. From the airport, Mr. Shah went straight to Hotel Mayfair, where he will rest for the night. He is scheduled to visit Bastar on Saturday. Before this, the time from 11 am to 1 pm has been reserved. During this time, he can hold a meeting with the state government and officials on the Naxal issue.

According to Amit Shah's schedule, he arrived in Raipur from Andaman Nicobar by a special BSF plane. This time his visit is specifically to conclude the Bastar Olympics. Mr. Shah may discuss the Naxal issue here on Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm. However, the details are not being disclosed. Two hours have been reserved. Experts say that during this time he may discuss Naxalism with Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy CM and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, and state officials and gather information about the activities so far. At 1.30 pm he will have lunch at Mayfair and after that will leave for Jagdalpur.

Mr Shah will leave for Jagdalpur from here at 1.50 pm in a special BSF plane. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma and Arun Saw will also accompany him. He will attend the closing ceremony
of Bastar Olympics in Jagdalpur from 2.45 to 4.45 pm. After this, at 4.55 pm, he will fly to Delhi from Jagdalpur airport in a special BSF plane.

Raipur - Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today presented a historic gift to Kabirdham district by laying the foundation stone at the construction site of the new Government Medical College. This marked the beginning of a new era of medical facilities in the district. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma were specially present at the event. With the foundation stone laying ceremony, a new chapter of development has been added to the health map of Kabirdham district. The establishment of the medical college will further strengthen the district's health infrastructure. The availability of specialist doctors will increase, modern medical facilities will be developed, and quality healthcare will be accessible to the general public locally. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai, on the demand of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, announced the construction of the Shri Panchmukhi Budha Mahadev River Front in Kawardha and a college in Raveli. Describing the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new Government Medical College building in Kabirdham district as historic, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai congratulated the people of the district. The Chief Minister stated that the health infrastructure in Kawardha district has been strengthened in the last two years. The establishment of facilities such as CT scans and critical care units has made treatment more accessible. He noted that today marks the completion of two years of the state government, and the state is celebrating its Silver Jubilee across the state to mark the 25th anniversary of the formation of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Raipur on November 1st, the State Foundation Day, where he inaugurated the new Vidhan Sabha building and the Tribal Museum. He said that this museum is rich in memories of tribal bravery and sacrifices of great men, which everyone must visit. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that as per the guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Modi, all the works are being completed in a timely manner.

Discussing the interests of farmers, he stated that for the third consecutive year, paddy procurement is being carried out at a rate of ₹3,100 per quintal, based on the rate of 21 quintals per acre. The Chief Minister described decisions such as the Ramlala Darshan Yojana and the increase in the rate of tendu leaves from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per standard bag as important steps taken in the interest of farmers and the forest region. He noted that a large number of Baiga and other tribal communities reside in the Kawardha region, for whose overall development the Central Government has launched the PM Janman Yojana. This scheme is dedicated to the development of particularly backward tribes. The Chief Minister also informed that ₹146 crore has been approved for the development of Bhoramdev under the Swadesh Darshan Yojana, which will give the region a new identity on the national and international tourism map. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, addressing the foundation stone-laying ceremony, said that today is an unprecedented and proud day in the history of Kawardha. This is a moment that will be etched in golden letters. He said that many important achievements have been made since the formation of Kawardha district after independence, but a historic day like the establishment of a medical college comes only once in a lifetime. Dr. Singh said that the respect of farmers is paramount in the state. Under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, mothers and sisters are being given an amount of Rs. 1,000 per month directly into their accounts, providing financial strength to their families. He praised the foresight of Chief Minister Shri Sai and said that the development projects received by Kawardha have rapidly changed the direction and condition of the district. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that the establishment of a medical college in Kawardha district is a historic gift for all of us, which will open new dimensions of health facilities in the district. He informed that work is being done rapidly to expand health facilities in the district. He said that a CT scan service has been started at a cost of Rs. 4.5 crore, and 814 CT scans have been performed so far. The capacity of the district hospital has been increased from 100 beds to 220 beds and 50 critical care beds have been installed.

Sonography machines have been installed in Pipariya and Bodla. The Deputy Chief Minister informed that the new medical college will be built on a 40-acre campus, and preparations have been completed to commence medical college studies with 50 seats. Ghotia Road and Gaurav Path are being constructed for easy access to the medical college. He further stated that work is progressing rapidly on several important irrigation projects in the district, including the Jagmadwa Reservoir, Baroda Khurd, and Rampur Barenda Reservoir. Under a Rs. 3.30 crore project by the Electricity Department, more than 2,000 transformers are being installed and eight new substations are being established. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma informed that 24 roads under the Public Works Department, 28 roads under the Chief Minister's Rural Road Scheme, and 76 roads under the Prime Minister's Rural Road Scheme have been approved. He said that 1.8 million houses were approved in the first cabinet meeting after the formation of the government, of which more than 50,000 are in Kawardha district alone. Fifty smart classes have been established in the district's government schools, and ambulance facilities have been provided in Rengakhar and Pipariya. Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that today is a very special day for the Kawardha region. A long-standing demand has been fulfilled. He pointed out that at the time of Chhattisgarh's formation, there was only one medical college, and former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh is credited with expanding it to 10.

Raipur-Presenting the state government's two-year report card at a press conference held at the New Circuit House, Civil Lines, marking the completion of two years of the current government, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai stated that the people of Chhattisgarh, expressing their faith in the leadership and guarantees of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, have fulfilled the opportunity to serve the government with full dedication and commitment. Public trust has grown even stronger in the past two years. Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that on the second day of the government's formation, more than 1.8 million needy families were granted Prime Minister's Housing. Farmers are currently being provided with a rate of ₹3,100 per quintal and paddy procurement at 21 quintals per acre, making farming a profitable business. He stated that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has become a historic initiative for women's empowerment. Approximately 7 million mothers and sisters are receiving monthly assistance of ₹1,000. So far, more than ₹14,306 crore has been released in 22 installments through DBT. The Chief Minister said that in the interest of tribal communities and forest produce collectors, the tendu leaf remuneration has been increased from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500. 1.3 million families are benefiting from this. The Charanpaduka scheme has been restarted, and 7.3 million poor families are receiving free rations. He said that a transparent recruitment system has been ensured for the youth. The investigation into the PSC scam has been handed over to the CBI, an annual calendar for competitive examinations has been implemented, and age limits have been relaxed. The recruitment process for more than 32,000 posts is underway. The Chief Minister said that a decisive battle is being fought against Maoism. In the last two years, 505 Naxalites have been neutralized, 2,386 have surrendered, and 1,901 have been arrested. Bastar is being integrated into the mainstream through security and development. He said that under the Niyed Nella Nar scheme, basic amenities like ration, Aadhaar, Ayushman cards, housing, electricity, and roads have been provided to remote villages. Schools have reopened in Bastar, and events like eco-tourism, Bastar Pandum, and Bastar Olympics are creating a new identity. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Shri Ram Lalla Ayodhya Dham Darshan Yojana and the Chief Minister's Teerth Darshan Yojana are being implemented to preserve cultural and religious heritage. The development of the Rajim Kumbh Kalpa, Bastar Dussehra, and Shakti Peethas has been given new grandeur. He said that more than 400 reforms have been implemented to strengthen good governance. Effective monitoring of schemes has been ensured through the Good Governance and Convergence Department, Atal Monitoring Portal, e-Office, and Digital Governance. The Chief Minister said that a new industrial policy has been implemented for trade and industry. 231 provisions were decriminalized, the Public Trust Act was implemented, and investment proposals worth ₹7.83 lakh crore have been received so far. Logistics parks, air cargo facilities, and industrial parks have been established. The Chief Minister said that GST collections have increased by 15 percent to ₹23,454 crore. Increasing the e-way bill limit,24x7 business operations and the opening of GST offices in districts have provided significant relief to businesses. Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that rationalization in the education sector has addressed the teacher crisis. The National Education Policy has been implemented, introducing smart classes, Vidya Samiksha Kendras, expanding medical colleges, and introducing MBBS courses in Hindi. He added that for youth skill development, model ITIs, the development of Nava Raipur as an Education City, a state-of-the-art library, a Khelo India Center, and sports promotion schemes have been implemented. Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that with the support of the double-engine government, Chhattisgarh has witnessed unprecedented expansion in road, rail, expressway, industrial, and social infrastructure. The government is committed to establishing Chhattisgarh among the leading states in the country through development, security, and good governance. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai stated that infrastructure development in Chhattisgarh has gained unprecedented momentum. Work is underway on rail projects worth over ₹47,000 crore in the state, and the Kharsia-Parmalkasa rail line has been approved, connecting the state's major industrial corridors. Work on the expressway connecting Visakhapatnam and Ranchi is progressing rapidly. Additionally, 37 projects worth over ₹18,000 crore are underway for the development of national highways. The Chief Minister noted that air connectivity in the state has also expanded significantly—the Honorable Prime Minister inaugurated the Ambikapur Airport, and new flights have commenced from Bilaspur, Jagdalpur, and Ambikapur. Raipur.  Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that the Kopra Reservoir in Bilaspur district being declared Chhattisgarh's first Ramsar site is a matter of great pride and honor for the entire state. Raipur.  Chhattisgarh has won two gold, one bronze and one silver medal in the 32nd Senior NTPC National Archery Competition held in Telangana. It is a matter of happiness for Chhattisgarh that Chandni Sahu and Vikas Kumar, both junior and sub-junior players, won medals while playing in the senior category. The team will be given a grand welcome on their arrival in Raipur.

Raipur.  27 year old Kishan Kumar Hapka from a small village Chhote Tumdar (Bhairamgarh) of Bijapur district has proved that a true player is recognized not by circumstances but by his courage. Kishan, who was once a brave soldier of DRG, had to lose one of his legs in an IED blast planted by Naxalites on 18 July 2024. The accident was so big that any normal person would have given up, but Kishan's thinking paved a new path for him. He decided to display his talent in archery in Bastar Olympics.

His body gave way, but his passion for sports and his sense of patriotism remained as strong as ever. This passion brought him back to the field. Fighting with courage, Kishan not only recovered but also made history by being selected for the district-level Bastar Olympics and reaching the division-level competition. Kishan showcased his talent by winning first place in the division-level competition.

After the accident, Kishan felt like giving up hope, but the athlete within him refused to give up. His love for the game and the fire hidden within him brought him back to life. Kishan considers his coach, Durgesh Pratap Singh, his mentor and source of inspiration. He says, "Coach Durgesh not only taught me the game, but also instilled in me the belief that disability is of the body, not of the mind."
Coming from a remote village like Tumnar in the Bhairamgarh block, Kishan has become an inspiration for all of Bastar. His struggle is a message to thousands of youth that no matter how great the challenges, courage must always be greater. Kishan's achievement is a proud moment not only for his family but for the entire Bijapur district.

Raipur.  Players from Dantewada district performed brilliantly in the Bastar division level Bastar Olympics 2025 and won medals in many disciplines. In the athletics 400 meter race, talented runner from Dantewada, Ranu Bhogami, won the gold medal (first place) on the strength of her tireless hard work and excellent technique. Ranu Bhogami is a trained athlete of Eklavya Sports Complex, Jawanga (Gidaam), who displayed excellent speed and composure throughout the competition.

Raipur.  Renowned boxer M.C. Mary Kom, six-time boxing world champion and Olympic medalist, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Run Saw. During the meeting at his official residence in Nava Raipur, Saw briefed him on the work being done to develop sports in the state and nurture athletic talent. International boxer Mary Kom had come to Chhattisgarh to attend the inaugural ceremony of the division-level competitions for the Bastar Olympics 2025 held in Jagdalpur on December 11th and encouraged the athletes.
