New Commissioner Prakash Kumar Surve takes charge in Bilaspur, emphasis on development and cleanliness
Bilaspur: Today marked a special day in the history of the Municipal Corporation, when newly appointed IAS officer Prakash Kumar Surve assumed office as Municipal Corporation Commissioner and MD Smart City. Upon assuming office, he delivered a clear message that the timely, quality, and public-friendly implementation of government schemes would be his top priority.
Target to rank first in cleanliness
Commissioner Survey said that Bilaspur's second-highest ranking in the Swachh Survekshan nationwide is a matter of pride, but now the goal is to achieve first place. Describing cleanliness as a continuous process, he appealed for active cooperation from citizens, social organizations, and public representatives.
Arpa regeneration and river conservation
Describing the Arpa River as the city's lifeline, he directed the Arpa Regeneration and Bank Enhancement Plan to be completed with quality and within the timeframe. He expressed his commitment to keeping the river pollution-free, beautifying it, and maintaining environmental balance.
Focus on smart cities and infrastructure
The Commissioner stated that, along with Smart City projects, it is the corporation's responsibility to ensure the continued availability of basic amenities such as water, roads, sanitation, streetlights, and drainage. He added that development should not be limited to paper but should also be clearly visible on the ground.
Inclusive and balanced growth
Reiterating his commitment to providing basic amenities even in new areas, he said that there will be no discrimination against any part of the region. Only through better teamwork and public cooperation can Bilaspur be made a clean, beautiful, and developed city.
