in Raipur. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin is providing millions of needy families across the country the opportunity to live a pucca, safe, and dignified life by freeing them from kutcha and unsafe houses. In this context, the dream of a pucca house has come true for Mr. Uderam Sahu, a resident of Kallutola, a forest village in the Chhuriya development block of the district.
Years of hardship, now relief.
Uderam Sahu explained that due to limited income and a weak financial situation, he and his family were forced to live in a kutcha house for years. During the rainy season, water leaked from the roof, cracks in the walls, and he was always worried about the family's safety. These conditions also affected health and social life.
A pucca and sustainable house was built with assistance of ₹1.20 lakh.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, Mr. Uderam Sahu received financial assistance of ₹120,000. With this assistance, he successfully completed the construction of a pucca, safe, and durable house using quality materials.
Employment provided through MNREGA, construction completed without debt.
During the construction of the house, he also received 90 days of wages under the MNREGA scheme, providing him with employment and a stable source of income during the construction period. This eliminated the need for additional loans and relieved financial burden.
The benefit of a toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission
is also providing the family with the benefits of cleanliness, better health, and a dignified life through the construction of a toilet under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
