Division-level Bastar Pandum 2026 concludes; Sukma tribal drama shines

. Raipur. Sukma district has successfully won the Bastar Pandum 2026, organized to preserve the glorious culture, art, and traditions of the Bastar division. In this grand division-level competition held at the Lal Bagh grounds in Jagdalpur, Sukma's tribal theatre group, Vidha, was awarded the first prize for their outstanding performance. Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai honored the Sukma artists with mementos and a cheque of 50,000 rupees. This
unique cultural preservation initiative,
organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, aims to preserve the original forms of Bastar's traditional dances, songs, food, crafts, and regional literature and provide a platform for local artists. This initiative by the administration is not only reviving endangered art forms but also paving the way for the sustainable development of tribal groups.
Artists from Sukma won the competition
Under the guidance of Collector Mr. Amit Kumar and the efficient management of District CEO Mr. Mukund Thakur, a total of 69 artists from 12 genres from Sukma district displayed their art. The team from Parla Gatta, a dependent village of Kondasanwali, a remote Gram Panchayat of Konta development block, won the first place in the drama category. A 13-member team (9 men, 4 women) from the Mudiya tribe
mesmerized
the audience with their artistic use of everyday items like palm leaves, peacock feathers, bows and arrows and fishing nets, giving a lively depiction of art.
These artists enhanced the pride of the district
Artists Lekam Lakka, Prakash Sodi, Vinod Sodi, Joga Sudam, residents of Parla Gatta in Konta development block, and their team have made Sukma district proud with their talent. Nodal officers Shri Maniram Markam and Shri P Srinivas Rao had a special contribution in this success of the artists, who played an important role in taking the artists to the divisional level and encouraging them.
