Raipur Railway Division's steps towards safety and smoothness of rail operations
00 Girder launching along with remedial work for safe rail travel of passengers
Raipur. The Railway Administration is making efforts to complete the infrastructure development works soon. In this context, a traffic cum power block was taken on 13/14 February for the launching work of relieving girders at level crossing number 389 (Kukrachunda) of Hathbandh-Bhatapara section under Raipur division of South East Central Railway. This section is located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route. The total traffic unit of this level crossing is 48,995 and it provides important connectivity to Kukrachunda, Mohbhatta and many surrounding villages.
The permissible speed of trains on the Bilaspur-Raipur section of this route has been increased to 130 kmph. Therefore, keeping in mind the safety of the general public and operational safety, construction of a RUB (Road Under Bridge) has been initiated at this level crossing. The girder launching work for the RUB was successfully completed by the Engineering Department of the South East Central Railway Raipur Division during the night block period from 01:10 am to 05:10 am with controlled train operations.
In addition to the girder launching work, the following ancillary works were also executed simultaneously during the Mega Block/Shadow Block:
(1) Deep screening of 2 turnouts at Nipania by blast cleaning machine.
(2) Dismantling of 11 kV overhead line at Bhilai.
(3) Erection of 12 portals (2x25 kV system) by Project Unit.
(4) Insertion of 2 TW SEJs.
(5) Renewal of 4 glued joints.
(6) Renewal of 2 scabbed rails and removal of DFWN (defective welds requiring renewal) were removed.
(7) Tamping of TO-2.
(8) Tamping of plain track.
(9) Erection of 07 portal booms at Bhilai Railway Station for non-standard OHE rectification.
(10) Conversion of 11 aluminum cross-feeders to copper at Bhilai TSS.
