Cabinet Breaking: 10% reservation for Agniveers in three departments
Fertilizer subcommittee to be formed for farmers
Raipur. The Chhattisgarh Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, approved two important decisions related to farmers and fire fighters on Wednesday. Following the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw, while briefing the cabinet on the cabinet decisions, stated that a cabinet subcommittee would be formed to oversee the availability and distribution of fertilizers in the state. Agniveers retiring from the Indian Army will receive 10 percent reservation in Class III government jobs in the state. A
fertilizer subcommittee for farmers will be formed.
The cabinet approved the formation of a cabinet subcommittee to ensure timely availability of fertilizers to farmers during the Kharif and Rabi seasons and to improve the distribution system. This committee will review matters related to the supply, distribution, and management of fertilizers and make recommendations to the state government.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw will chair the subcommittee. The Agriculture Minister, Cooperation Minister, and Finance Minister will be its members, while the Agriculture Production Commissioner will serve as the committee's convener. The committee will also invite subject matter experts and officials from relevant departments if needed.
Agniveers will get 10 percent reservation.
Keeping in mind the rehabilitation and respectable employment of Agniveer soldiers, the Council of Ministers has decided to provide 10 percent reservation in the third class government jobs of the state.
The benefit of this reservation will be available in the direct recruitment for the posts of constable in the police department, forest guard in the Forest and Climate Change Department and guard in the jail department.
For this, the cabinet approved the "Reservation Rules-2026 for Vacancies in Class III Posts in the State Civil Services for Agniveer Soldiers of Chhattisgarh".
These Agniveers will get the
benefit of reservation only to those Agniveers who have retired with a valid service certificate after completing four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces. The government believes that this decision will provide new employment opportunities to Agniveers and the Police, Forest and Jail Departments will benefit from their discipline, training and experience. This decision has been taken in accordance with the announcement made by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai in the Assembly on 26 July 2024.
