Surajpur. A nutrition garden construction and tree planting program was organized on Saturday at the Bag-Free Government Primary School, Runiyadih, in Surajpur district, to commemorate No Bag Day, celebrated under the National Education Policy 2020. Students contributed labor on the school campus, spreading the message of environmental protection and plant care.

The purpose of No Bag Day is to reduce the burden of studies and mental stress on children. On this day, students are engaged in sports, art, and creative activities away from books. In this regard, students, led by the school's Youth and Eco Clubs, cleaned the nutrition garden, removed weeds, and cared for the plants.

Plantation under the slogan 'One Tree for Mother'

As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "One Tree for Mother" campaign, saplings were brought from the government garden in Datima and planted on the school campus. Students planted several fruit and shade trees, including neem, peepal, mango, papaya, munga, and banana. Seeds of barbatti, bottle gourd, and bitter gourd were also sown in the nutrition garden.

Garden became a source of nutrition for children

The school's principal, Seemanchal Tripathi, said that the campus already has mango, blackberry, jackfruit, guava, papaya, banana, and pineapple trees. The fruits from these trees also contribute to the students' nutrition.

Under the leadership of M. Toppo, in-charge of the Youth and Eco Club, students, including club president Varsha Rajwade, participated in the volunteer work. Teachers Rizwan Ansari, Sumitra Rajwade, Nan Daiya, and members of the Children's Cabinet also participated in the program.
