Collector Vyas reviews Jal Jeevan Mission works with more than 80 percent of the payments

Jashpurnagar . Collector Rohit Vyas on Monday conducted a detailed review of the progress of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission, where more than 80 percent of the payments have been made, in a review meeting held in the Collectorate hall.

Additional Collector Pradeep Kumar Sahu, officials from the Public Health Engineering Department, and contractors from various agencies working under the Jal Jeevan Mission were present at the meeting. Collector Vyas said that the primary objective of the Jal Jeevan Mission is to provide safe, clean, and adequate drinking water to every household in rural areas through individual tap connections. Rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge should also be given equal priority, ensuring the continued availability of water sources in the future.

He stated clearly that the true success of this scheme will be determined not only by the completion of construction work or payment, but also by ensuring a regular supply of clean drinking water to every household. If water does not reach people's homes, the objective of the scheme will remain unfulfilled. Therefore, all agencies should complete the work quickly, paying special attention to quality and timeframe, and where work has been completed, they should also ensure regular water supply. The Collector instructed officials and contractors to ensure that all construction work conforms to prescribed technical standards. Strict action will be taken against the concerned agency if any negligence, unnecessary delay, or poor quality is found.

Describing water conservation as an important part of the plan, he directed that every drinking water borewell must be equipped with a recharge structure to maximize rainwater harvesting, improve groundwater levels, and ensure the sustainability of drinking water sources in the future. He also directed that all necessary measures be effectively implemented to ensure water conservation and long-term water availability.
