80th Independence Day: The entire 'Vande Mataram' will resonate at the Red Fort for the first time, with 5,000 special guests to witness the ceremony.
New Delhi. The country will celebrate its 80th Independence Day on Saturday. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort. This Independence Day will be special in many ways. For the first time, the national song "Vande Mataram" will be sung in full at the Red Fort. Nearly 5,000 special guests from across the country have been invited to the ceremony.
This year's Independence Day celebrations focus on the theme "Developed India 2047" and the power of youth. The event will showcase the country's achievements over 80 years of independence. National unity, cultural heritage, and youth participation have been given special importance.
Upon arrival at the Red Fort, the Prime Minister will be received by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth, and the Defense Secretary. Following this, the Prime Minister will be presented with a "General Salute" by a joint guard. A "Guard of Honor" will be presented by a special contingent composed of personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police.
A 21-gun salute will be given during the hoisting of the national flag, using indigenously developed 105mm light field guns. The Indian Army will serve as the coordinating force during the ceremony, while Lieutenant Colonel Arjun Singh will command the Guard of Honor.
Following the flag hoisting, two Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopters will fly over the Red Fort and shower flowers on the venue. One helicopter will fly with the national flag and the other with the 'Vande Mataram' flag.
Following the Prime Minister's address, the ceremony's most significant event will be the mass singing of the national song "Vande Mataram." Cadets from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and volunteers from "Mera Bharat" will participate in this performance.
Approximately 2,500 NCC cadets and volunteers will participate in the event. They will also form the "Vande Mataram" formation while sitting in front of the Red Fort. This year's event will be a unique confluence of patriotism, cultural heritage, and the commitment to a developed India.
