Raipur. The monsoon is gaining strength again in Chhattisgarh. Three friends who had come to Korba's Devpahari Waterfall for a picnic became stranded on an island amid strong currents after the river's water level suddenly rose. Police and rescue teams rescued the three safely after approximately 15 hour

The impact of the rains wasn't limited to Korba. Heavy to very heavy rain fell in several areas of the Bastar division. Chhotedongar recorded 180 mm of rain, while Antagarh and Bastanar recorded 160 mm each.

Raipur also experienced heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours. The capital recorded approximately 120 mm of rain. The water level of the Kelo River is expected to rise by approximately 3 feet due to the release of water from the Kelo Dam in Raigarh. A high-alert has been issued for low-lying areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will remain active for the next two days. Heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected in many areas.

The state has received 832.2 mm of rain so far, which is 4% below normal and, according to the Meteorological Department, falls within the normal range. Narayanpur recorded the highest rainfall of 1,220 mm, while Bemetara received 40% less.
