Youth arrested for stalking, harassing and threatening college student, police seize bike and mobile

Balodabazar. Amidst the ongoing police action for the safety of women and girls, the City Kotwali police has arrested a 23-year-old youth on the charges of stalking a college girl, molesting her by blocking her way and threatening to kill and defame her. According to the police, the girl said in her complaint that the accused Roshan Singh Rajput used to follow her continuously while she was going to and coming from college. He would try to talk forcibly and would also molest her by holding her hand. When the girl refused to talk, the accused would threaten to kill her and defame her. It also came to light in the complaint that she was being mentally harassed continuously through phone.

After receiving the complaint, the City Kotwali police registered a case under Crime No. 720/2026 under sections 78(1), 79, and 351(2) of the IPC and began an investigation. Given the seriousness of the matter, the police team immediately inspected the scene and collected necessary evidence. The accused was subsequently surrounded and taken into custody. Police say that during interrogation, the accused admitted his involvement in the incident.

Police seized the red motorcycle, number CG 22 KR 9895, used in the crime, and a mobile phone from the accused's possession. The arrested accused has been identified as Roshan Singh Rajput, son of Uday Singh, 23 years old, resident of village Rawan, Ward No. 14, City Kotwali Police Station, Baloda Bazar. He was duly arrested on September 1, 2026, and produced in court, from where he was sent to jail on judicial remand. Keeping the victim's safety and privacy in mind, the police have kept her identity and address completely confidential.
