Srinagar. A terrorist was killed in an encounter during a joint search operation by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday. The operation involved personnel from the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force. The identity of the slain terrorist is yet to be ascertained.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said that based on specific intelligence, a joint search operation was launched in the Asdar Gali area of ​​Budgam. The operation was named 'Operation Asdar'. During the search, security forces observed suspicious movement and challenged the suspects.

According to the army, when challenged, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces. A heavy exchange of fire ensued. One terrorist was killed in the encounter. Security forces recovered an AK rifle and other ammunition from the slain terrorist. Security forces suspect that other terrorists may be hiding in the area.

During the operation, the entire area was cordoned off and additional security forces were deployed. An investigation is underway to determine the identity of the slain terrorist and his organization affiliation. Security forces are continuing the search operation, anticipating the presence of other terrorists in the area. Extensive searches are also underway in the surrounding areas.
