Korba. Three out of all the seven units of NTPC power plant locatedin Korba , Chhattisgarh,which were shut down after a technical power failure on Friday evening , have been restarted after about 24 hours. Two 500 MW and one 200 MW units were successfully restored on Saturday evening. At the same time, work is underway to restart the remaining three units sequentially as per the prescribed safety and operational procedures. The total installed capacity of NTPC's Korba plant is about 2600 MW. This includes four 500 MW and three 200 MW units.

According to NTPC officials, all seven units of the public sector plant in the Dari area suddenly tripped after an electrical fault at around 6 p.m. Friday. This resulted in a complete halt in power generation at the plant. NTPC Public Relations Officer Ushma Ghosh said that by 6 p.m. Saturday, three units were successfully restarted.

These include two 500 MW units and one 200 MW unit. He said that overhauling work has already been underway on one 500 MW unit since August 25th. Meanwhile, the remaining three units are being restored in a phased manner, adhering to prescribed safety and operational standards. According to officials, the actual cause of the power supply disruption at the plant is currently unclear. The cause of the technical fault is being investigated.
