Raipur, September 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today attended the Teeja-Pora Tihar program organized by the Mor Mati Cultural Organization at the Dussehra Ground in Kabir Nagar, capital Raipur. On this occasion, he said that Teeja-Pora Tihar symbolizes the rich culture and traditions of Chhattisgarh. Teeja is a festival associated with our mothers and sisters, family and relationships, while Pora is a festival of respect for our farmers, agriculture and livestock. Such folk festivals not only keep our culture alive from generation to generation but also strengthen intimacy and harmony in society.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, responding to a request from the Mor Mati Cultural Organization, announced a grant of Rs. 50 lakh for the construction of a Sarva Samaj Bhavan in Kabir Nagar. He honored children who had excelled in various fields and presented saris to mothers and sisters on the occasion of Teej.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, extending his greetings and best wishes to everyone for the Teej-Pora festival, said that it is heartening that the Mor Mati Cultural Organization celebrates this festival with grandeur and enthusiasm every year. The greatest feature of this event is the participation of all communities and the spirit of harmony. Our festivals connect us to our roots and bring us closer to each other.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that women are given the highest respect in our culture. Our scriptures say, "Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra devataah." Teej Tihar is a festival of sacrifice, penance, and dedication of mothers and sisters to their families. On this day, women observe fasts, praying for the happiness and prosperity of their families and the long life of their husbands. They worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, listen to stories, and hold night vigils.

He said that India is a land of festivals, and these festivals hold special significance in Chhattisgarh's culture. Many of our festivals, including Ekadashi and Karma Tihar, carry social and cultural messages. These traditions are a priceless legacy from our ancestors. It is our responsibility to preserve and promote them so that future generations understand the importance of their culture and traditions and remain connected to them.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is continuously working to bring prosperity to the villages, the poor, farmers, and mothers and sisters. After the government was formed, 18 lakh Prime Minister's houses were approved in the very first cabinet meeting. Over 11 lakh houses have been built in the last two years, and approximately 1600 houses are being constructed every day. He said that Chhattisgarh is an agricultural state. Farmers are being purchased 21 quintals of paddy per acre at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal.

The Chief Minister stated that for the economic empowerment of mothers and sisters, a monthly assistance of one thousand rupees is being provided through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, and 31 installments have been paid so far. He said that this amount has become an important source of economic support for village women. Women are using this money to start small businesses like grocery and vegetable shops, purchase sewing machines, and save for their daughters' future under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that for a long time, Naxalism was a major obstacle to Chhattisgarh's development. Today, Chhattisgarh is Naxal-free due to the effective strategy developed under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and the indomitable courage of our security forces. He informed that the central government has approved separate housing for 15,000 surrendered Naxalites, so that they can join the mainstream of society and begin a new life of dignity.
