Raipur, September 2026/ Another important chapter was added today towards realizing the dream of permanent housing for poor and needy families in Chhattisgarh. Two lakh newly constructed houses were inaugurated at the state-level Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin Griha Pravesh ceremony held in Sakti. In the presence of Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, beneficiaries were symbolically handed over the keys to their new homes.

On this occasion, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave Chhattisgarh a significant gift of 3.65 lakh additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. He also announced the opening of an Agricultural Science Center in the newly formed Sakti district and an extension of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin survey deadline in the Bastar division to October 31, 2026. Union Minister Shri Chouhan handed over the letter of approval for the additional houses to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai.

Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the central government is continuously working to bring positive change in the lives of the poor, farmers, women, and rural families. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin is an important scheme that translates this commitment into reality.

He said that housing construction work under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin is progressing rapidly in Chhattisgarh, with more than 1,600 houses being completed daily. He praised the effective implementation of central and state government schemes and development work in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai.

Union Minister Shri Chouhan said that the government delivers on its promises. Coordinated efforts between the central and state governments have given new impetus to development work in Chhattisgarh. Facilities related to permanent housing, roads, drinking water, sanitation, health, and livelihoods are being continuously expanded in rural areas.

He said that through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, poor families are not only getting a pucca roof, but work is also being done to bring about a comprehensive change in their lives through schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, free ration, toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeevan Mission.

Working together to strengthen agriculture and rural economy

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Chhattisgarh is a state with immense agricultural potential. The state is now not only known as a rice bowl, but is also rapidly establishing itself in the field of vegetable production. The central and state governments are working together to increase farmers' income, encourage modern agricultural technology, and strengthen the rural economy.
