Raipur. A two-day National Conference on Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) was inaugurated in Mumbai with the aim of strengthening the welfare, social security and workers' interests. The conference, held from September 11th to 12th, 2026, is discussing in detail the safe, dignified and prosperous future of construction workers across the country.

This national conference was attended by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, Labour Minister of Madhya Pradesh Prahlad Singh Patel and Labour Secretary of Chhattisgarh Him Shikhar Gupta along with senior officials and representatives from various states.

Chhattisgarh was represented at the conference by Dr. Rampratap Singh, Chairman of the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, and Girish Ramteke, Board Secretary. During the conference, various states shared experiences regarding welfare schemes, best practices, and new innovations implemented for the benefit of workers. Furthermore, future strategies are being developed to maximize the benefits of social security schemes for construction workers and ensure their effective implementation. This event is considered a major step toward making the social security system for the country's construction workers more effective and accessible.
