Chhattisgarh receives prestigious national level award for effective implementation of Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Awarded by Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda for outstanding performance in resolving portability claims

Raipur, September 25, 2026/ Chhattisgarh has achieved a significant national milestone in effectively implementing the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and providing better health coverage to beneficiaries. Chhattisgarh has been awarded a prestigious national honor for its outstanding performance in the timely and effective resolution of portability claims.

This honour was given to Chhattisgarh by the National Health Authority (NHA) of the Government of India in the "Arogya Manthan 2026" organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today on the occasion of completion of eight years of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and five years of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda honoured Chhattisgarh for its excellent performance in settlement of portability claims. State Nodal Officer of Ayushman Bharat Yojana Dr Dharmendra Gahwai received this award on behalf of Chhattisgarh.

Congratulating the entire team of the Health Department on this achievement, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the state government is committed to ensuring that no eligible citizen is deprived of treatment due to financial hardship. The Ayushman Bharat scheme is being effectively implemented in the state to ensure that families receive treatment and financial security during times of illness.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Ayushman Bharat scheme has provided strong assurance of health security to millions of needy families across the country. In Chhattisgarh, health services and administrative systems are being continuously strengthened to provide quality treatment to eligible families through this scheme.

No need to worry about treatment outside the state, portability has become a strong foundation for health security.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the portability feature of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme is particularly important for citizens who, due to employment, work, or other reasons, must live outside their home state, or travel to another state for better treatment. Through this arrangement, eligible beneficiaries can receive cashless treatment at hospitals affiliated with the scheme in other states and union territories across the country.

He said that the state government is continuously strengthening the system to ensure that beneficiaries from Chhattisgarh who receive treatment in other states also receive the benefits of the scheme easily and their claims are resolved in a timely manner. The national honor received for the resolution of portability claims is the result of efforts being made in this direction.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that this national-level achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the Health Department officials and staff, doctors, hospitals, and all those involved in the scheme's implementation. This recognition will inspire us to make health services more accessible, effective, and beneficiary-centric.

The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is moving forward with the commitment of "Public Welfare through Health Security." Our endeavor is to ensure that serious illness does not become a cause of financial crisis for any family and that every eligible citizen has access to timely, quality treatment in times of need.
