Raipur. The state government has intensified preparations to ensure a smooth procurement of paddy from farmers at the support price in the upcoming Kharif marketing year 2026-27. A Cabinet sub-committee, chaired by Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Minister Dayal Das Baghel, held a meeting on Thursday, September 24th, to review in detail the preparations related to paddy procurement and custom milling. The meeting focused on farmer convenience, the arrangements at paddy procurement centers, the availability of jute bags, and the progress of depositing custom-milled rice. Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, and Finance Minister O.P. Chaudhary attended the meeting. The Cabinet sub-committee directed officials to complete all necessary arrangements in a timely manner before the start of paddy procurement, so that farmers do not face any inconvenience in selling their paddy.

360 new paddy procurement centers will provide convenience to farmers.
The meeting was informed that 360 new paddy procurement centers have been opened in the state for the convenience of farmers in the Kharif marketing year 2026-27. Instructions were given to complete all necessary preparations related to paddy procurement at these new centers in a timely manner. The Cabinet Sub-Committee reviewed the necessary arrangements for paddy procurement at the new procurement centers and directed officials to ensure the availability of all necessary resources and systems. The Sub-Committee stated that the entire paddy procurement process should be farmer-centric and that farmers should not face unnecessary difficulties at the procurement centers.
Provision of 3.64 Lakh Bundles of New Jute Bags:
Reviewing the availability of gunny bags for paddy procurement, the Cabinet Sub-Committee directed to ensure adequate availability of both new and old jute bags. The meeting was informed that the Marketing Federation is arranging 3.64 Lakh bundles of new jute bags through the Jute Commissioner, Kolkata. To date, the marketing association has received 1.14 lakh bales of new jute gunny bags. The sub-committee directed to ensure the timely availability of the remaining required gunny bags, so that the procurement system is not affected due to a shortage of gunny bags during paddy procurement.
Instructions to accelerate the collection of custom milled rice:
The meeting also conducted a detailed review of the custom milling status for the Kharif marketing year 2025-26. Officials stated that the target is to collect a total of 89 lakh tonnes of rice under custom milling. Of this, 37.50 lakh tonnes of rice has been deposited so far, while millers remain to deposit 51.50 lakh tonnes of rice. The deadline for depositing custom milled rice is March 31, 2027. The Cabinet sub-committee directed to expedite the custom milling and rice collection process, considering the remaining rice quantity. The concerned officials were asked to regularly review this and ensure rice is deposited within the stipulated timeframe. The meeting was attended by Food Department Secretary Mrs. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation Managing Director Jitendra Shukla, Civil Supplies Corporation Managing Director Vilas Bhoskar, Finance Department Special Secretary Chandan Kumar and Registrar of Cooperative Societies Ramesh Kumar Sharma along with senior officers of the concerned departments.
