Raipur. The havoc wreaked by the returning monsoon in Chhattisgarh shows no signs of abating. The monsoon is scheduled to return within a fortnight. Despite this, the monsoon has wreaked havoc in Chhattisgarh. Rain is expected in many districts of the state today. Heavy or light rain accompanied by strong winds is possible in some areas.

Winds of up to 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected in several districts, including Raipur, Durg, and Rajnandgaon. Heavy rains and overflowing rivers and streams across the state have swept away 12 people in various incidents, including three who died. However, the water in the rivers and streams is now receding.

The Municipal Corporation and local administration are working to drain the water. The waterlogging on the Raipur-Amaleshwar bridge has now ended. Traffic has resumed between Raipur and Amaleshwar, bringing relief to residents. The bridge was closed for two days due to heavy rains. The Kharun River was flowing over the bridge.

According to the Meteorological Department, the depression over northeastern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining northern Chhattisgarh is now showing signs of weakening. As a result, rain fell in many parts of the state. Rain accompanied by strong winds is also possible in some areas of the state today. Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible.Rainfall activity is expected to decrease in the coming days. The state has received 5.6 percent more rainfall than normal. From June 1st to September 26th, Chhattisgarh recorded a total of 1150.5 mm of rainfall. The normal rainfall during this period is 1089.6 mm. Thus, the state has received 5.6 percent more rainfall than normal so far.
