On Gandhi Jayanti, daughters got new facilities related to cleanliness, health and respect.
The target is to construct toilets for girls in 6,671 rural government schools in the state.
Raipur,
On the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, giving the message of cleanliness and respect for daughters, the first girls' toilet was inaugurated under the 'Meri Beti-Mera Abhiman' campaign in Dhuma Gram Panchayat of Kurud development block of Dhamtari district. Built under the Vikasit Bharat-Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural) VB-G Ram Ji Yojana, this toilet is an important initiative towards realizing the ongoing 'Meri Beti-Mera Abhiman' campaign in the state at the grassroots level.
During the inauguration of the newly constructed girls' toilet, decorated in pink, little girls also carried placards with the same message, spreading the message of cleanliness, safety, and respect for daughters. The participation of villagers, public representatives, and children made the event, organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, special.
'Meri Beti-Mera Abhiman' Abhiyan was launched on 6th August
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai had launched the state-wide 'Meri Beti-Mera Abhiman' Abhiyan on 6th August 2026 under VB-G Ram Ji. The Abhiyan is being operated from 15th August 2026 to 26th January 2027. Under this, a target has been set to construct girl's toilets in 6,671 government schools in rural areas of the state at a cost of approximately Rs 286.85 crore. The objective of the Abhiyan is to provide safe and clean toilet facilities to girl students studying in rural schools and to create an environment conducive to their health, cleanliness and dignity.
From construction to inauguration, continuous monitoring was done in Dhuma.
This girls' toilet of Dhuma is not an initiative built in a day. Taran Prakash Sinha, Commissioner of Vikasit Bharat-Ji Ram Ji and Director of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, during his visit to Kurud development block, visited Gram Panchayat Dhuma and conducted a field inspection of the construction work of the girls' toilet. Along with seeing the progress of the construction work, he also took information about the payment of wages from the workers engaged in the work and instructed the officials for timely action. Its inauguration on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti after about a month shows the objective of the campaign coming to fruition.
