The people of the state will get better, faster and safer transportation facilities: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai

After the rains, road and bridge construction work will gain momentum in the state. The state government, having completed preparations for this, has approved tenders for 24 important works worth Rs 672 crore 22 lakh 30 thousand. These include the construction of new roads and bridges, as well as the upgrading, widening, strengthening, electrification and beautification of existing roads. The Public Works Department has instructed the concerned officials to issue work orders to the selected contractors and construction agencies as soon as possible and get the construction work started.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai stated that building robust road and bridge infrastructure in the state is among the state government's development priorities. Better roads strengthen connectivity between villages and cities, facilitating people's access to education, health, markets, and other essential services. Completion of these projects will improve transportation and boost local economic activities, including trade and tourism.

Chief Minister Sai directed that quality and timeliness be given top priority in construction work. He said that to ensure that the benefits of approved projects reach the people quickly, works should be completed within the stipulated timeframe and regular monitoring of construction quality should be ensured.

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Saw said that the state government is working in a planned manner to expand the state's road and bridge infrastructure. The Public Works Department has approved tenders for 24 important projects across the state. Officials have been issued work orders and instructed to immediately expedite construction work after the monsoons. He stated that all projects will be completed within the stipulated timeframe with high quality, providing better, faster, and safer transportation for the people of the state.

The 24 works approved by the Public Works Department include seven new road works, two bridge and approach road works, three road upgradation works and 12 widening and strengthening works.

New roads will be built in various districts including Durg, Dhamtari, Rajnandgaon.

The Public Works Department has approved a tender worth Rs 28 crore 2 lakh 70 thousand for the construction of a 5.28 kilometer four-lane road, including bridges and culverts, from the Pulgaon Pul main road to the Anjora-Rasmada state highway in Durg district. In Dhamtari district, a tender worth Rs 19 crore 26 lakh 10 thousand has been approved for the construction and beautification of the 3.50 kilometer four-lane Gaurav Path in Amdi Nagar Panchayat on the Rajnandgaon-Gunderdehi-Dhamtari-Nagari Sihawa-Borai state highway.

Tender worth Rs 46 crore 22 lakh 8 thousand for eight kilometer four lane Parikrama Path including bridges in Dongargarh of Rajnandgaon district, Rs 29 crore 91 lakh 92 thousand for 17.61 kilometer Jhal to Nagpura road in Bilaspur district, Rs 11 crore 27 lakh 98 thousand for 6.50 kilometer Saldih-Bahadurpur main district road including bridges in Mahasamund district, Rs 14 crore 13 thousand for 7.60 kilometer Civildag-Nilkanthpur road in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district and Rs 13 crore 74 lakh 29 thousand for 3.40 kilometer Urdana-Krishnapur-Khairpur road in Raigarh district have been approved.

High-level bridges will be built on the Arpa and Kharun rivers.

The state government has approved tenders worth ₹17.63 billion (176.33 billion) for a high-level bridge and approach road over the Arpa River on the Lodhipara (Sarkanda)-Koni road in Bilaspur district, and ₹7.68 billion (16 billion) for a high-level bridge and approach road over the Kharun River on the Chorhadevri-Parasada road. The construction of these bridges will facilitate transportation in the respective areas and strengthen local connectivity.

Three important roads will be upgraded with an investment of approximately Rs 79 crore.

The Public Works Department has approved tenders worth a total of Rs 78 crore 96 lakh 74 thousand for three road upgradation works. These include the 18 kilometer Paraswar-Chalgali road including bridges and culverts in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district at a cost of Rs 37 crore 37 lakh 96 thousand, the four-lane upgradation of 2.60 kilometer stretch of old National Highway-30 in Abhanpur in Raipur at a cost of Rs 17 crore 32 lakh 31 thousand and the upgradation of 12.30 kilometer Kodatarai-Pusaur-Surajgarh road in Raigarh at a cost of Rs 24 crore 26 lakh 47 thousand.

Several important roads in Dhamtari will be widened and strengthened.

In Dhamtari district, tenders worth Rs 14 crore 45 lakh 12 thousand have been approved for widening and strengthening of 3.75 km Megha Road Tiraha-Station Road-Charmudia National Highway-30, Rs 13 crore 32 lakh 82 thousand for widening and strengthening of five km Pachpedi-Taragondi-Bhelvakuda-Tipani-Semra (B) road, Rs 23 crore 12 lakh 46 thousand for nine km Chhati-Gagra-Kandel-Devpur road and Rs 19 crore 42 lakh 22 thousand for 10 km Arjuni-Bhanpuri-Tarsinwa-Kurra-Amlidih-Hasda road.

A tender worth Rs 11 crore 70 lakh 83 thousand has also been approved for strengthening and asphalting of 23 km length of Rajnandgaon-Gunderdehi-Dhamtari-Nagari Sihawa-Borai state highway.

Electrification will take place along with four-lane roads in Raigarh.

A tender of Rs 59 crore 49 lakh 4 thousand has been approved for four-lane widening and electrification of five kilometer stretch of Raigarh-Loing-Mahapalli main district road in Raigarh district and a tender of Rs 47 crore 77 lakh 76 thousand has been approved for four-lane widening and electrification of five kilometer stretch of Raigarh-Kotra-Nandeli state road.

Road network will be strengthened from Kanker to Surguja

The department has approved a tender of Rs 85 crore 83 lakh 4 thousand for widening and strengthening of 36.80 kilometer road including bridges in Kanker-Bhanupratappur-Sambalpur State Highway.

Tender worth Rs 30 crore 22 lakh 88 thousand has been approved for strengthening of 30.80 kilometer stretch of Devkar-Saja-Khamharia main district road in Bemetara district, Rs 14 crore 16 lakh 16 thousand for widening and strengthening of 15.50 kilometer stretch of Bhilai-Sirsa-Auri-Motipur main district road in Durg district, Rs 26 crore 7 lakh 34 thousand for strengthening and beautification of 28 kilometer long Sontarai-Mainpat road in Surguja district and Rs 59 crore 89 lakh 21 thousand for widening and strengthening of 25.90 kilometer road of Bihajhar-Ganjar-Rewa road in Mahasamund district.

Special attention to quality, work will be completed within the stipulated time frame

The state government has instructed all concerned executive engineers to ensure the execution and supervision of contracted works in accordance with departmental standards, while paying special attention to the quality of construction. The department has clarified that these works cannot be sublet to anyone else and that power of attorney for the execution of the work will not be valid.

Executive Engineers have also been instructed to complete the works within the stipulated time period and to get the work done as per the contract within the limits of administrative approval and allocation.
