The Election Commissioner held a review meeting with the relevant departments regarding the preparations for the upcoming general/by-elections of the municipality and three-tier panchayat in the month of December.

Raipur. The Electoral Roll Revision Program has been issued by the Commission in connection with the local body elections, the final publication of the Electoral Roll will be done on 30 November 2026. In relation to the preparations for the upcoming general and by-elections in the state election commission, the state election commissioner Mr. Ajay Singh took updated information on vacancies, reservations, delimitation from the general administration department, urban administration and development department and panchayat and rural development department, as well as reviewed the availability of human resources required for the election. State Election Commission Secretary Mrs. Shikha Rajput Tiwari, Principal Secretary, Urban Administration and Development Department Mr. Sonmani Bora, Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department Bhim Singh, Secretary Urban Administration Avinash Champawat, Director Urban Administration and Development Nilesh Kumar Mahadev Kshirsagar, Director Panchayat and Rural Development Mrs. Priyanka Mahobia were present in the review meeting.
Panchayat Elections - General elections for sarpanch and 126 panchayat posts are proposed in 9 gram panchayats of Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Korea and Kondagaon districts and by-elections are to be held for 01 vacant post of district panchayat member, 92 vacant posts of sarpanch, and 721 posts of panchayat.

Municipal body elections - Newly formed 02 Nagar Panchayat Tamnar, District Raigad and Nagar Panchayat Badi Kareli, District Dhamtari along with Municipal Corporation Bhilai-Charoda, Risali, Jamul and Birgaon, including 15 municipal bodies in which general elections are to be held. Along with this, the post of chairman (Nagar Panchayat, Bilaigarh) and deputy election of 6 ward councilors of different bodies are also to be held.

All relevant departments and district administrations have been instructed by the State Election Commission to proceed with all preparations related to the elections in a coordinated manner. It was directed by the State Election Commissioner that the purpose of the commission is to ensure free, fair, transparent and smooth elections, so all the expected actions related to the elections should be completed within the time limit.
