Forest Department aims to plant 4 crore trees across 33 districts of the state under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign

Chief Minister Shri Sai urged the people of the state to plant trees in honour of their mother.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai launched the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' mega tree plantation campaign at the Biodiversity Park in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur. He commenced the campaign by planting a peepal sapling after performing traditional rituals and unveiling the campaign banner. The Forest Department aims to plant 4 crore trees across the state under this initiative. Today, the Forest Department has planted 4 lakh trees in all 33 districts of the state. At the Biodiversity Park, Chief Minister Shri Sai, along with cabinet ministers, schoolchildren, CRPF personnel, and officials from the police and forest departments, planted 20,000 trees. The Chief Minister toured the plantation area in an open Jeep to encourage participants. Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap presided over the event.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, addressing the event, stated, “Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called upon all 140 crore Indians to plant a tree in honour of their mothers. This call has transformed into a movement, and Chhattisgarh is taking it up as a campaign, with the Forest Department aiming to plant 4 crore saplings. Today, 6 lakh saplings are being planted across the state's 33 districts.

Various species are being planted, including the peepal tree, which provides oxygen 24 hours a day, neem trees, and medicinal plants like harra, baheda, and amla”. The Chief Minister emphasised the necessity of tree planting, highlighting the record-breaking heat experienced across the country this year, with temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius. He appreciated the schoolchildren, CRPF personnel, and forest and police department staff for participating in the plantation drive. He also appealed to all schools to have children plant a tree in honour of their mothers within school premises.

Chief Minister will urge the beneficiaries of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana to plant tree saplings in August

Chief Minister Shri Sai shared that he will appeal in August to the Mahtari Vandan Yojana’s beneficiaries to plant tree saplings in honour of their mothers. He mentioned that if 70 lakh women plant trees, the target will be easily achieved.

Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, presiding over the program, stated that in response to Prime Minister Shri Modi's call, people should plant a tree in honour of their mothers, care for it, and protect it. He expressed pride that the program is being organised in all forest ranges of the state.

Choudhary, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Sports Minister Shri Tankram Verma, and MLAs Shri Indra Kumar Sahu and Shri Guru Khushwant Saheb were present.
