State Felicitated at National Level for Excellence in Implementing TB-Free Panchayat Programme

Raipur, July 26, 2025/Chhattisgarh, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is making rapid and determined strides in eliminating tuberculosis (TB) from the state. Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national goal to make India TB-free by 2025, Chhattisgarh has launched a wide-ranging and focused implementation plan across districts.

Launched on December 7, 2024, under the leadership of CM Shri Sai and guidance of Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, the "Nikshay-Niramay Chhattisgarh – 100-Day Campaign" was designed as a decisive ground-level offensive against TB. The campaign involved door-to-door visits across all districts to identify high-risk individuals, who were then registered and screened using advanced diagnostic technologies. Over 36 lakh people were screened, more than 4.5 lakh underwent X-rays, and over 1.5 lakh individuals were tested using state-of-the-art CBNAAT (NAAT) machines — a critical step in early diagnosis and rapid treatment.

Public participation played a pivotal role in the campaign’s success. The Governor, Chief Minister, and Health Minister themselves adopted TB patients as 'Nikshay Mitras', providing them with regular nutritional support. To date, over 15,000 new Nikshay Mitras have registered and extended nutritional aid to more than 34,000 TB patients. Lawmakers, local representatives, women, youth, NGOs, and citizens across the state have actively supported the initiative.

Following CM Sai’s directive, the campaign has also focused on socially and economically vulnerable groups — including jail inmates, senior citizens in old-age homes, children in hostels, and labourers in industrial units. Dedicated screening and treatment camps were organised for these underserved communities to ensure no one is left behind.

Thanks to these comprehensive efforts and collective participation, Chhattisgarh has been honoured at the national level for exemplary implementation of the TB-Free Panchayat programme. So far, 4,106 gram panchayats across the state have been officially declared TB-free — a landmark achievement.

Speaking on the milestone, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai remarked, “When administrative commitment and public participation come together, change becomes more than a goal — it becomes a reality. Chhattisgarh is now becoming a living example of that transformation."

Raipur, July 25, 2025/ In a landmark initiative aimed at empowering youth with the right platform for innovation, skill, and energy, the Government of Chhattisgarh has launched the “CM IT Fellowship Programme.” Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, this programme is poised to become a powerful medium to prepare technically sound and talented youth of the state for global competition.

As part of this scheme, youth from across Chhattisgarh will get the opportunity to pursue M.Tech in futuristic subjects like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-NR), Nawa Raipur. The curriculum has been designed in line with the Digital India Mission and the New Education Policy, placing a strong emphasis on not only technical education but also innovation, research, and practical exposure.

The entire tuition fee of selected students will be borne by the state government, and they will also receive a monthly fellowship of ₹50,000. During the programme, students will gain hands-on experience by working on government projects related to AI, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, HealthTech, EduTech, Revenue Systems, and E-Governance.

CM honours 'Swachhata Didis' for their tireless service; Jashpur’s national rise in cleanliness rankings hailed

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has said that cleanliness is not just a campaign, but a collective responsibility of every citizen. Addressing a felicitation event organised in village Bagia of Jashpur district, CM Sai honoured ‘Swachhata Didis’ with sarees, mementoes, and commendation certificates, acknowledging their significant role in making India cleaner and healthier.

He said, “Jashpur is a naturally rich and beautiful district, but earlier when I visited the villages, garbage littered on roadsides used to mar the scenic beauty of our towns and villages.” Recalling the transformative moment, CM Sai praised Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for launching the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014, turning it into a nationwide people’s movement. “PM Modi picked up the broom himself and awakened the nation—from village lanes to urban streets—to the importance of cleanliness, empowering citizens to live with dignity,” he said.

Highlighting the pivotal role of Swachhata Didis, CM Sai stated, “Their dedication and commitment have earned Jashpur national recognition in cleanliness. They truly deserve our highest respect for providing us a clean and healthy environment.” He further appealed to all citizens to take up cleanliness of their homes, neighbourhoods, crossroads, temples, and public places as a personal responsibility and make hygiene a part of their daily habit.

The CM noted that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, under the Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban (SBM-U), evaluated 4,589 cities through the Swachh Survekshan 2024, and Jashpur’s urban local bodies made an unprecedented mark.

Jashpurnagar ranked 10th nationwide in the 20,000–50,000 population category, a leap from 505th position in 2023. Nagar Panchayat Kunkuri ranked 13th, Pathalgaon secured 30th, Bagicha came 51st and Kotba placed 64th in the same category. This remarkable achievement is the result of relentless efforts by Swachhata Didis and a coordinated push by the administration.

Under the guidance of CM Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, a host of structured interventions have been executed by urban local bodies to beautify and sanitise the region. These include construction of BT roads, road markings, upgradation of community toilets, beautification of squares and intersections, wall paintings, parks made from waste material, composting sheds, recycling centres, installation of paver blocks on footpaths, and signage systems. However, at the heart of all these efforts are the Swachhata Didis who carry out labour-intensive tasks such as door-to-door garbage collection in every alley and neighbourhood.

On the occasion, Jashpur MLA Smt. Raymuni Bhagat congratulated the Swachhata Didis, officials of the urban bodies, and all citizens for this collective achievement. Smt. Gomti Sai, Vice President of the Sarguja Development Authority and MLA of Pathalgaon, said that the Didis have embraced a task once socially neglected. “Earlier, there was little awareness about sanitation. But under the Swachh Bharat Mission, these women not only educated communities but also ensured a shift in behaviour—this is what has earned Jashpur this honour,” she said.

Jashpur Gets NCC Air Squadron at PM SHRI School

Historic boost for youth career development; CM interacts with newly inducted cadets

In a significant development for the youth of Jashpur district, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai’s persistent efforts have led to the approval for establishing an NCC Air Squadron at PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jashpur. This will be the 3rd CG NCC Air Squadron in Chhattisgarh, marking a milestone that is set to elevate career prospects for local students in the field of defence and aviation.

To officially mark the launch, CM Vishnu Deo Sai pinned badges on 25 selected NCC cadets at the school, symbolising the formal commencement of their registration. Among these cadets, 13 are girls and 12 are boys. The Chief Minister wished them a bright future ahead. On the occasion, Wing Commander Shri Vivek Kumar Sahu presented a memento to the Chief Minister in honour of his support for the initiative. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including MLA Smt. Gomti Sai, MLA Smt. CM’s Vision Turns into Reality: Jashpur Air Squadron Takes Off

It is noteworthy that during the last NCC Day celebrations, CM Sai had expressed his desire to expand the Air NCC training facilities to other towns in Chhattisgarh equipped with airstrips, similar to Raipur. Until recently, only Raipur had an operational Air NCC unit and aviation training program. Cities like Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, and Jashpur—despite having airstrips—lacked such opportunities.

Acting on this vision, the Agardih airstrip in Jashpur was approved in March this year for the 3 CG Air NCC Squadron. A microlight aircraft was dispatched to Jashpur to provide hands-on training to cadets. Nearly 100 cadets received real-time flying experience during the program. CM Sai personally visited the airstrip to inspect the training sessions and interacted with the cadets, who enthusiastically shared their technical knowledge about the aircraft with him.

Career Opportunities Soar for Trained NCC Cadets

The 3 CG NCC Air Squadron stands out nationally as the only one with cadets from AIIMS, MBBS, and nursing backgrounds. The cadets here enjoy multiple career avenues, including 25 vacancies per course in the Indian Armed Forces through UPSC and SSB interviews, 50 vacancies per course through SSC for the Officers Training Academy (OTA), which requires only an SSB interview—no UPSC exam needed, 20 reserved seats for girls in these programs, 10% quota in all Air Force flying training courses without needing AFCAT or UPSC exams, Bonus marks ranging from 2 to 10 for recruitment in paramilitary forces, Priority in employment in several industries for holders of the NCC ‘C’ certificate.

With these career pathways now accessible through the new Air NCC Squadron in Jashpur, local youth—especially from remote and tribal areas—will have unprecedented access to national-level defence training and employment opportunities. CM Sai described the “Rakt-Mitra” directory as a historic and commendable initiative, enabling direct contact with blood donors in critical times. He said this step is crucial in ensuring that lifesaving assistance becomes easier, more accessible, and timely.

Expressing joy over the active involvement of citizens from all walks of life in voluntary blood donation and health awareness campaigns in Jashpur district, the Chief Minister said, “I feel honoured today while presenting certificates to the blood donors. Anyone who donates blood is equivalent to a divine being who grants the gift of life.”

He emphasised the critical importance of timely access to compatible blood groups and remarked that this is why blood donation is often referred to as “Mahadaan” or the greatest donation. Highlighting the extensive work of the Red Cross Society in the state, CM Sai said, “The highest number of blood donation camps are organised by the Red Cross Society, showcasing an exemplary model of public service. Raipur, July 24, 2025 – On the auspicious occasion of the holy month of Sawan, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, accompanied by his wife Smt. Kaushalya Sai, visited the revered Phaleshwarnath Mahadev Temple in Bagiya and performed traditional rituals and worship for the well-being, prosperity, and happiness of the people of the state.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also attended a spiritual discourse on Shiv Mahapuran being delivered by renowned Kishori Rajkumari Tiwari.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sai said, “May the blessings of Lord Bholenath remain upon all of us, and may our country and Chhattisgarh continue to move forward on the path of development, peace, and prosperity.” He added that with the grace of Lord Shiva, the Chhattisgarh government is working with full dedication for the welfare of the state. “Attracted by our new industrial policy, the state has received investment proposals worth approximately ₹6.5 lakh crore in the past six to eight months. The government has also created job opportunities for youth through various government recruitments,” he said.

As part of the event, a grand spiritual ceremony of 1,08,000 Parthiv Shivling creations and special worship rituals was held at the temple complex. The three-day event, which began on July 22, concluded today (July 24) with full adherence to traditional scriptures and rituals. A large number of devotees enthusiastically participated in the sacred event, contributing to the Parthiv Shivling creations with deep devotion and faith. The rituals were conducted by eminent scholars and priests following strict scriptural guidelines, turning the entire atmosphere into a spiritually charged and devotional space.

On the auspicious occasion of Hareli, a festival rooted in Chhattisgarh’s vibrant folk traditions and agrarian heritage, a culturally rich and devout programme was held at the residence of the Revenue Minister.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai took part in the rituals, performing Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva and offering prayers to Goddess Gauri, Lord Ganesha, the Navgrahas (nine planets), and various agricultural tools. He prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. The event witnessed the presence of Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy CMs Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, Raipur Mayor Smt. Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma stated, “The state government is continuously working in the interest of farmers. The Gedi competition remains a major attraction for children, and rural people express gratitude towards livestock by offering them nutritious feed.”

The event came alive with the beats of traditional musical instruments, performances of Chhattisgarhi folk songs, Gedi contests, and folk dances. No Shortage of Fertilizers for Farmers in Chhattisgarh: Over 94% Stocked, 70% Distributed Already

Over 3 Lakh Bottles of Nano DAP Available to Tackle Global Shortage

There is no shortage of chemical fertilizers for farmers in Chhattisgarh this Kharif season. The state government has ensured 94% of the targeted fertilizer stock has already been stored, and 70% of it has been distributed to farmers through cooperative societies. Essential fertilizers like urea, NPK, potash, and super phosphate are readily available across the state and are being provided to farmers based on demand through government channels.

For the current Kharif season, the state had set a target to store 14.62 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers. Against this, 13.78 lakh metric tonnes have already been stocked through both government and private channels and are being made available to farmers. Out of this, farmers have already lifted 10.20 lakh metric tonnes.

To address the global shortage of DAP, the government has proactively stored over 3.05 lakh bottles of Nano DAP as an alternative. Simultaneously, the agricultural department is continuously educating farmers about using mixed fertilizers. Swift action is also being taken against hoarding or black marketing of fertilizers and those selling them at inflated prices.

According to officials from the agriculture department, 6.22 lakh metric tonnes of urea have been stored for this Kharif season, of which 4.87 lakh metric tonnes—68% of the total—have already been distributed to farmers. Similarly, out of 2.22 lakh metric tonnes of NPK stocked, 1.70 lakh metric tonnes have been distributed, covering 95% of the stored quantity.

In addition, more than 77,000 metric tonnes of potash and 2.76 lakh metric tonnes of super phosphate have been stored for the season. Of this, farmers have already lifted 53,000 metric tonnes of potash (around 90%) and 1.66 lakh metric tonnes of super phosphate (approximately 83%).

This year, over 1.79 lakh metric tonnes of DAP were stored in the state, of which 1.41 lakh metric tonnes—around 46%—have already been lifted by farmers.

To supplement DAP supplies, over 3.05 lakh bottles of Nano DAP have been stocked by IFFCO, as per state government directives. Out of these, 82,470 bottles are stored at Double Lock Centres, 1,41,389 bottles at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, and 48,000 bottles in the private sector. IFFCO still holds a reserve of over 33,000 bottles.

These half-litre Nano DAP bottles are available to farmers through cooperative societies at a subsidized rate of ₹600 each.

World-famous Bastar Dussehra begins with traditional Paat Jatra ceremony

Raipur, July 24, 2025/ The globally renowned and historic Bastar Dussehra commenced today with the sacred ritual of Paat Jatra held in front of the revered Danteshwari Temple in Bastar on the auspicious occasion of Hariyali Amavasya. This first ceremonial worship, dedicated to Bastar’s presiding deity Goddess Danteshwari, witnessed the participation of Member of Parliament and Bastar Dussehra Committee President Shri Mahesh Kashyap, Jagdalpur MLA Shri Kiran Dev, Mayor Shri Sanjay Pandey, other public representatives, and traditional functionaries of the Dussehra committee including Manjhi-Chalaki, Member-Memberin, Pujari-Gayta, Patel, Naik-Paik, and sewadars, along with a large number of local citizens.

As per tradition, during the Paat Jatra, rituals were performed to worship and consecrate the tools used for chariot-making, including the Thurlu Khotla and other equipment, in a deeply symbolic act marking the formal beginning of the Bastar Dussehra. With this, the 75-day-long spiritual and cultural journey of this iconic festival has officially started. The festival, celebrated with immense devotion and grandeur, will continue through a series of ritualistic ceremonies that reflect the deep-rooted faith and traditions of the Bastar region.

The upcoming rituals will be held as per the established calendar of Bastar Dussehra. The Deri Gadhai ritual is scheduled for Friday, September 5, followed by Kachhangadi on Sunday, September 21. Kalash Sthapana will take place on Monday, September 22, and Jogi Bithai on Tuesday, September 23. From Wednesday, September 24 to Monday, September 29, daily Navratri worship and the sacred Rath Parikrama will be performed. On Monday, September 29 at 11 AM, the traditional Bel Puja will be conducted, followed by Maha Ashtami Puja and Nisha Jatra on Tuesday, September 30. The next day, Wednesday, October 1, will include the Kumari Puja, Jogi Uthai, and the ritual Mavli Parghav. The following day, Thursday, October 2, will witness the Bheetar Raini and Rath Parikrama puja, while Friday, October 3, will be marked by Bahar Raini and another round of Rath Parikrama. On Saturday, October 4, the festival will feature the Kachhan Jatra and the grand tribal congregation known as the Muria Darbar.

The concluding phase of the festival will include Kutumb Jatra on Sunday, October 5, where farewells are ceremonially offered to the village deities. Finally, on Tuesday, October 7, the farewell procession of Mavli Mata’s Doli will mark the end of the historic Bastar Dussehra. For the first time, Bhilai-based graduate Dhanishtha Sharma, along with her elder brother Divya Sharma, recited mantras during the Abhishek of Lord Shiva. Their spiritual presence and chanting impressed not only the Chief Minister and his family but also the distinguished guests present at the event.
