Ranjita Koreti, a young girl from Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district, has made the state and the nation proud by clinching the gold medal at the prestigious Asian Cadet Judo Championship held in Taipei, Taiwan. Representing India on the international stage, Ranjita triumphed over competitors from various countries to secure this historic win.

A resident of the Kondagaon Girls’ Home run by the Chhattisgarh State Child Welfare Council, Ranjita has proven to be a shining star. Her victory is not only a matter of pride for Kondagaon district but also a remarkable achievement for the entire state.

The success story of Ranjita is the result of continuous support and mentorship provided by the District Child Protection Unit, the Department of Women and Child Development, and the residential care institution. With consistent physical and mental development, Ranjita grew stronger over the years. Owing to her keen interest in sports and stellar performances in various competitions, she was provided specialized judo training with the help of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Ranjita began her sports journey with an impressive debut in 2021 at the Open National Judo Tournament held in Chandigarh, competing in the 40 kg weight category. She continued her streak in 2022 by winning the bronze medal at the Open National Judo Competition in Bhopal.

In 2024, she won a silver medal in the 52 kg category at the Khelo India National Judo Tournament held in Kerala. She followed this with a gold medal performance at the Khelo India Regional Judo Competition in Nashik, Maharashtra. Reinforcing her dominance, she won another gold in the 52 kg category at a tournament in Thrissur, Kerala.

At the Open National Judo Championship held in Pune, Ranjita defeated top competitors from Assam, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Delhi to clinch yet another gold medal. She also secured gold at the Khelo India Youth Games held in Patna, Bihar, further adding to her growing list of accolades and bringing glory to her district and state.

After her continued excellence at the national level, Ranjita went on to represent India internationally. In April 2025, she ranked 5th in the 52 kg category at the Cadet European Cup held in Georgia. She continued her impressive form at the Asian Cadet Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in 2025.

Ultimately, from July 12 to July 15, 2025, Ranjita struck gold at the Asian Cadet Judo Championship held in Taipei, Taiwan, claiming the top spot in the 52 kg category and etching her name in the annals of Indian sports.

Recognizing her potential, Ranjita was selected in January 2023 for training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) center in Bhopal, where she currently continues her education alongside high-level judo training.

Raipur, July 16, 2025// The 12th Round of the Malaria Mukt Chhattisgarh Abhiyan (Malaria-Free Chhattisgarh Campaign) has demonstrated that the state government's aggressive screening strategy and community-level engagement are striking at the root of the disease. During the survey conducted between June 25 and July 14, 2025, a total of 1,884 malaria-positive cases were identified across the state, out of which 1,165 cases (61.8%) were asymptomatic.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated, "Our government's approach is clear — do not wait for the disease to arrive, reach before it does." He congratulated the health department teams on this significant achievement and said that the campaign is becoming a decisive milestone in the state’s journey toward malaria elimination.

A total of 1,39,638 individuals were tested for malaria. Out of these, 1,884 tested positive, with 1,165 patients (61.8%) showing no symptoms — indicating that without such widespread screening, these silent carriers could have unknowingly continued spreading the infection. Notably, more than 75% of the total cases were children, highlighting the vulnerability of this group. Over 92% of infections were caused by Plasmodium falciparum (Pf), a more dangerous malaria strain — whose timely detection helped avert complications.

In Dantewada, a geographically difficult and remote district, the campaign achieved 12.06% target coverage, identifying 706 malaria-positive cases. Significantly, 574 of these were asymptomatic, and were promptly treated thanks to the government’s proactive intervention. This demonstrates that even in forest-dominated areas, healthcare infrastructure, surveillance and delivery mechanisms are functioning effectively.

In Sukma, 15,249 individuals were tested, resulting in the identification of 372 malaria-positive cases, of which 276 were asymptomatic. This clearly shows that the state’s proactive screening approach has helped break the chain of silent transmission. Medical access and community participation in tribal regions have played a key role in controlling the spread — a testament to the success of this targeted administrative strategy.

Under the 12th phase of the Malaria Mukt Chhattisgarh Abhiyan, screening teams reached 27,266 households. A total of 1,247 pregnant women were tested, with only 10 testing positive — a mere 0.08% positivity rate. LLINs (Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets) were found in use in 92% of households, while Indoor Residual Spray coverage reached 68.73%. In addition, mosquito larvae were detected in 614 homes, where immediate preventive action was undertaken.

This campaign proves that public health is not just about treatment — it is about awareness, timeliness, and last-mile delivery. Through a combination of scientific screening, vector control, awareness drives and follow-up systems, the state was able to identify and treat over 61% asymptomatic malaria cases, effectively breaking the transmission chain.

Raipur, July 16, 2025// Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today released a booklet based on the ‘Mor Gaon Mor Pani’ (My Village, My Water) mega campaign at his office in the Vidhan Sabha premises. Speaking on the occasion, he said the special campaign, launched on Panchayati Raj Diwas, has triggered an unprecedented awareness around water conservation and preservation. The release event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Principal Secretary of Panchayat Mrs. Niharika Barik, Commissioner MNREGA and Director PMAY Mr. Taran Prakash Sinha, and several other senior officials.

CM Sai remarked that the active involvement of gram panchayats and voluntary public participation has transformed this campaign into a mass movement. Citizens are willingly taking part in the noble cause of water conservation, signaling a clear shift in social consciousness. He said the booklet documents notable initiatives and innovations undertaken by panchayats across the state, which will serve as an inspiration for others.

The Chief Minister added that the campaign placed special emphasis on Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities to promote water literacy. In over 11,000 gram panchayat buildings, groundwater levels have been marked on walls, resulting in a practical awakening among people about the importance of water. He emphasized that gram panchayats have played a crucial role in connecting water conservation with public participation, and this awareness is expected to grow even more significantly in the coming years.

It is noteworthy that under the ‘Mor Gaon Mor Pani’ campaign, rallies and wall writings have been employed to sensitise and educate the public on water conservation. Through trainings conducted in 626 clusters, more than 56,000 participants have been trained in water management and conservation techniques.

The campaign is also leveraging GIS technology to ensure effective planning of water conservation works. Additionally, the Jaldoot app is being used to measure water levels in open wells. Structural interventions like percolation tanks, earthen dams, and defunct borewell recharge structures are also being built to create long-term water recharge systems. These consistent efforts by gram panchayats aim to establish Chhattisgarh as a national model in the field of water conservation.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a power tariff hike of only 1.89% for the financial year 2025–26, making it one of the lowest increases in recent years. This decision, taken transparently following a public hearing, has been well-received by domestic consumers as well as industrial groups like steel and rolling mill associations.

Households protected, no additional burden on farmers

The Chief Minister highlighted that domestic electricity rates have seen only a marginal increase of 10 to 20 paise per unit, while agricultural pump consumers will see a 50 paise per unit hike — which will not affect farmers directly, as the state government is already covering this cost through advance subsidy payments.

He reaffirmed, “Our goal is to ensure that farmers in Chhattisgarh do not bear any extra financial burden. The government remains fully committed to protecting the interests of our farming community.”

Boost to Industry — Tariff Cut for Steel Sector

The CM added that to enhance industrial competitiveness, the state has reduced power tariffs for energy-intensive sectors such as mini steel plants, rolling mills, and ferro-alloy units. This step, he said, reflects the state government’s strong commitment to industrial growth.

Quality Supply and Lower Losses: Chhattisgarh moves towards efficient power distribution

Highlighting supply improvements, the CM noted that urban areas are receiving 23.85 hours/day and rural areas 23.45 hours/day of electricity. Agriculture feeders are being provided 18 hours/day, among the highest in the country. The state has also made impressive gains in reducing Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses, which fell from 23.14% in 2020–21 to 13.79% in 2024–25 — a result of efficient operations, transparency, and technical upgrades.

Massive Infrastructure Investment, 1320 MW Plant Underway in Korba

The current tariff includes a Capital Investment Plan that allocates ₹2,433 crore for the transmission company, ₹3,977 crore for the distribution company, and ₹2,992 crore for the generation company. Additionally, a 1320 MW power plant is already underway in Korba, with an investment of ₹15,800 crore. This project will help Chhattisgarh become a power-surplus state and ensure uninterrupted supply.

CM Sai also announced that under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, households can avail up to ₹78,000 central subsidy for up to 3 kW solar plants, along with an additional ₹30,000 from the state for up to 2 kW systems. Raipur, July 15, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai met schoolchildren from remote villages of Sukma district at the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly today. The children are visiting Raipur on an educational tour under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana. Interacting warmly with them, the Chief Minister enquired about their well-being and welcomed them to the state capital. He reiterated that ensuring a bright future for the children of Bastar is one of the state government’s top priorities. The government is committed to reaching every corner of Bastar with essential services such as education, healthcare, roads, electricity, and clean drinking water.

Speaking with affection, CM Sai said the educational tour gave the children an opportunity to experience Raipur up close. “In the same spirit, our government is accelerating development efforts across Bastar,” he said. He pointed out that security camps are now being established even in remote areas, and wherever these camps reach, holistic development follows. “Ration shops are being opened at more locations, and people are receiving benefits from various welfare schemes,” he added. Referring to the recent tragic incident in Pahalgam, the Chief Minister spoke with emotion: "The mortal remains of our son of the soil, the late Dinesh Miraniya, were brought home amidst tears, honour, and silence. I personally witnessed the pain of his grieving family. His wife lost her husband before her very eyes—a grief that this entire Assembly can understand. He was killed solely because the perpetrators did not want citizens from other Indian states to travel freely within Jammu & Kashmir, which is an integral part of India. They were targeted for their religion. Images of weeping mothers and wives emerged from across the country, and the nation wept with them. This inhuman act tore apart the fabric of humanity itself,” he said.

CM Sai added that while terrorists spilled innocent blood, the Indian Army ensured that no harm came to Pakistani civilians during retaliatory action. “Our leadership has made it clear—India never provokes, but never spares those who provoke us. Through Operation Sindoor, we have sent a loud and clear message: every drop of blood will be accounted for.”

He highlighted that the targets of the operation included terror camps involved in some of the worst attacks in Indian history—the Parliament attack, the Mumbai attacks, the Akshardham Temple massacre, and the Pulwama incident. “India has now exposed, on global platforms, those nations that support and shelter terrorism,” he added.

India has always prioritized peace, said the CM, “but any attempt to compromise our sovereignty will be met with a strong and appropriate response.” Countries that echo the language of terrorists have found themselves increasingly isolated on global forums—thanks to the unwavering resolve of India's leadership.

He lauded PM Modi for sending multi-party delegations to various countries to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. “It was a shining example of Indian democracy and the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” he remarked.

Raipur, July 15, 2025: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, a state-wide initiative has been launched to hold three parent-teacher meetings annually in all schools across Chhattisgarh during the academic session. The first meeting is scheduled for the first week of August, while the second and third meetings will be conducted within 10 days after the quarterly and half-yearly examinations. In this regard, Secretary of the School Education Department, Shri Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, has issued detailed guidelines to all Collectors and District Education Officers. He has clearly directed that each district must prepare an implementation plan and ensure that the process is effectively carried out in every school.

Parent-teacher meetings will not merely serve as platforms for academic discussions but will also offer a collaborative space to foster holistic development of children. Through these interactions, efforts will be made to help parents understand the kind of environment children need at home for effective study, how their daily routine should be structured, how to help them cope with exam stress, and how to nurture the habit of healthy communication. In addition, initiatives like “Bagless Saturdays” will be discussed to relieve children from academic stress and promote participation in creative activities.

These meetings will also include guidance for parents on how to boost their children’s confidence. Parents will be made aware of the importance of providing opportunities for children to speak openly, ensuring participation in regular health checkups, and enrolling them in camps that facilitate the issuance of caste, income, and residence certificates. Furthermore, parents will be encouraged to actively participate in community-based initiatives such as "Nyota Bhojan" (community invitation meals).

The campaign gives special emphasis to digital education as well. During the meetings, parents will be informed about digital learning platforms such as the Diksha App, E-Jadui Pitara, and the Digital Library, so that they can support their children's learning at home through technology-based resources. The School Education Department has clarified that the first parent-teacher meeting, scheduled for the first week of August, will be conducted in a grand, well-organized, and dialogue-centric manner in every school. Raipur, July 15, 2025: Enu, a resident of the small village of Umarda in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district, is now known across the country as “Scooty Didi.” Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai lauded her grit, self-reliance, and her efforts in empowering rural women, saying that daughters like Enu truly embody the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He added that her courage, dedication, and determination are reshaping the narrative of rural Chhattisgarh.

Enu’s inspiring journey is a testament to the fact that when one is driven by passion and purpose, the lack of resources, societal pressures, or age-old traditions cannot hold them back. Born into a modest rural family, Enu pursued her education under challenging circumstances and earned a postgraduate degree in Economics. She later joined the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission, ‘Bihan’, where she received training in tailoring and embroidery, secured a loan of ₹1 lakh, and set a shining example of financial discipline by repaying it on time.

Realising that mobility was key to rural women's empowerment, Enu learned to ride a scooter through training from the Pratham Foundation. Despite early ridicule and taunts from society, she stood her ground and never lost confidence. As she started visiting village after village on her scooter, engaging with women, people began calling her “Scooty Didi.”

In 2023, Enu established a “Women’s Two-Wheeler Training Centre.” Initially, just two or three women enrolled, but over time, this initiative sparked a quiet revolution in rural society. To date, she has trained more than 30 women to ride scooters—women who now independently commute to anganwadis, schools, banks, and health centres.

Her initiative has not only eased the daily mobility of rural women but has also triggered a perceptible shift in social attitudes. Today, parents themselves send their daughters and daughters-in-law to Enu for training. Her dream is to empower 1,000 women and soon start a four-wheeler driving training centre as well.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai noted that people like Enu are redefining the identity of Chhattisgarh. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting such grassroots innovations through schemes like ‘Bihan’, which are bringing about real transformation on the ground.

Enu’s contribution goes far beyond driving lessons. She has also trained women in tailoring and embroidery, LED assembly, MGNREGA works, and household management. Impressed by her work, Smt. Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, along with Dhamtari Collector Shri Avinash Mishra, visited Umarda village to meet Enu and appreciated her efforts.

The Ministry of Rural Development also shared Enu’s story on its official Facebook page, acknowledging her indomitable spirit. "She had a shortage of resources in life, but no one could shake her determination," the post read. Transparent Sand Mining, Environmental Safeguards and Crackdown on Illegal Operations Among Top Priorities of Chhattisgarh Government

Raipur, July 15, 2025/ Chhattisgarh government has undertaken sweeping reforms to make sand mining in the state more transparent, organised, environmentally sensitive, and public-centric. During the previous regime, the number of operational sand quarries had fallen from around 300 to nearly 100–150, severely disrupting construction activities and fuelling illegal mining. The current administration has introduced a reformed mineral policy aimed at streamlining, regulating, and making sand extraction more citizen-friendly.

Accelerated Environmental Clearance Process

In a significant move, the government has expedited the environmental clearance process by setting up three State-Level Environmental Appraisal Committees with the approval of the Government of India. Previously, only one such committee existed. The move has enabled faster disposal of pending applications and smoother approval processes.

Rise in the Number of Legally Approved Quarries

At present, 119 sand quarries are operational with valid environmental clearances. Approval processes for an additional 94 quarries are in the final stages. The state plans to sanction more than 300 new quarries over the next 12 to 18 months to ensure steady sand availability and timely progress of construction projects.

IIT Roorkee Report Validates Scientific Mining

A scientific study conducted by IIT Roorkee on the environmental impact of sand mining from major rivers concluded that legally regulated and controlled sand mining does not adversely affect rivers. The report reinforces the state’s commitment to a scientifically guided mineral policy.

Tough Crackdown on Illegal Mining

Between FY 2024–25 and June 2025, a total of 6,331 illegal mining cases were registered. The crackdown resulted in ₹18.02 crore in recoveries, seizure of 184 machines, filing of 56 FIRs, and 57 court cases. District and state-level task forces comprising officers from the mining, revenue, police, transport, and environment departments are continuously monitoring and taking action.

Swift Response to Local Disputes

The government has taken swift legal and administrative action in cases related to sand mining disputes in various districts including Rajnandgaon and Balrampur. The administration has made it clear that no illegal activity will be tolerated under any circumstances.

Royalty Relief for PMAY Beneficiaries

As per the decision dated March 15, 2024, eligible beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) are exempted from paying sand royalty. The step is aimed at providing direct relief to the poor and needy in building their homes.

In a significant administrative move, the state cabinet in its July 11 meeting approved the creation of 30 posts, thereby sanctioning senior grade pay for officers who have completed the required qualifying service period. The decision is aimed at improving cadre management within the State Police Service.

Union Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, Shri Manoj Joshi, met Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at the Assembly premises in Raipur on Monday. The meeting centres around strengthening land record systems, integrating technological innovations in land surveys, and expediting the resolution of pending cases in revenue courts. State Revenue Minister Shri Tankram Verma was also present at the meeting.

CM Sai reiterated the state government’s commitment to updating and improving land revenue records. “The more streamlined our land records, the faster and more efficiently revenue cases can be resolved,” the CM said. He assured full support to the Centre’s initiatives for modernising land records and emphasised the importance of cooperative efforts to make the system more transparent, effective, and citizen-friendly.

The CM further noted that the Centre’s technology-driven innovations in land management were helping bring speed, accuracy, and transparency to the system, benefiting both farmers and the general public. He instructed state revenue officials to ensure prompt and effective implementation of all necessary measures in this direction.

Union Secretary Shri Manoj Joshi praised Chhattisgarh’s progress in land records management and acknowledged the state government’s cooperation in ongoing reforms. He said earlier land surveys, conducted through traditional methods, were time-consuming, but the adoption of modern technology has made the process faster, more precise, and reliable.

He added that the Central Government is undertaking special efforts to revamp the land records maintenance system, providing both financial and technical support to states. Joshi highlighted that discrepancies often arise during property transactions due to outdated maps, but digital surveys would ensure updated and verified cadastral maps for every individual. “This will help eliminate irregularities and support planned urban expansion,” he said.

Special train to depart from Raipur on July 15 — CM Sai to flag off the spiritual journey

Marking the silver jubilee of Chhattisgarh’s formation, the ‘Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana’ — envisioned under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai — is steadily connecting with the lives and faith of the people across the state.

As part of this initiative, the first special train of the financial year 2025–26 will depart from Raipur Railway Station for Ayodhya Dham on July 15, 2025. On this auspicious occasion, CM Vishnu Deo Sai himself will flag off the train, officially commencing the latest phase of this spiritual journey. The train, carrying pilgrims from the Raipur division, will be flagged off in the presence of Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and other public representatives. Also present will be Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Shri Neelu Sharma, Managing Director Shri Vivek Acharya, senior officials, DRM of South East Central Railway (Raipur Division) Shri Dayanand, Senior DCM Shri Awadhesh Trivedi, and IRCTC – South Central Zone Group General Manager Shri P. Rajkumar.

It is noteworthy that on February 23, 2024, a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) with the aim of enabling every resident of the state to visit Shri RamLala at Ayodhya Dham at least once in their lifetime.

In continuation of this MoU, the scheme was formally launched with a special train for pilgrims from the Raipur division on March 5, 2024. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai flagged off the train from Raipur Railway Station in the gracious presence of senior ministers and public representatives.

Following this, on March 11, a special train for pilgrims from the Bilaspur division was flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao. On June 19, a special train from the Surguja division was flagged off by MP Shri Chintamani Maharaj in the presence of MLAs and other representatives. On June 26, the first special train from the combined Durg and Bastar divisions, carrying 850 pilgrims, departed from Durg Railway Station. Each of these departures witnessed tremendous enthusiasm and devotion from pilgrims. The events were also attended in large numbers by media personnel, local citizens, district administration officials, staff of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, and IRCTC representatives.

It is worth mentioning that during the previous financial year, around 22,100 pilgrims were taken to Ayodhya Dham under the ‘Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana’. Under this ongoing initiative, weekly special trains will continue to operate from Raipur, Bilaspur, Surguja, and Durg-Bastar (combined) divisions, providing regular access for devotees to seek blessings of Shri Ramlala at Ayodhya.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, and in alignment with the state government's unwavering commitment to public health, Chhattisgarh has relaunched a decisive campaign aimed at the permanent eradication of malaria. Guided by Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, the department has initiated a model strategic intervention that sets a new benchmark in the field of public health. The 12th phase of the ‘Malaria Mukt Chhattisgarh Abhiyan’ (Malaria-Free Chhattisgarh Campaign) has not only expanded its operational scope but also demonstrated on-ground impact—proving that policy-driven and determined governance yields tangible results.

Launched on June 25, this phase has involved intensive testing, treatment, and awareness drives across 10 districts in the state. So far, 19,402 households have been visited, and 98,594 individuals have undergone blood testing. Out of these, 1,265 people tested positive for malaria. What’s noteworthy is that every identified case was immediately given the first dose of medication—with precautionary steps such as administering local food first to ensure the medicine’s effectiveness and safety. Each patient was also issued a treatment card, ensuring proper monitoring and follow-up.

The most significant impact of this campaign has been observed in Bastar division, where malaria cases have declined by 71% compared to 2015. This is not a routine outcome, but the result of a systematic, sustained, and scientific strategy. The state’s Annual Parasite Index (API) has also dropped from 27.40 to 7.11, indicating effective control over the disease.

Expressing satisfaction over the campaign's progress, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal stated that “The fight against malaria is no longer just about treatment—it has evolved into a battle of strategy and public participation.” He emphasized that the government’s targets—'Zero Malaria by 2027' and 'Malaria-Free Chhattisgarh by 2030'—are no longer confined to documents, but are steadily becoming reality.

Dr. Priyanka Shukla, Commissioner-cum-Director of the Health Department, shared that the campaign's efforts have significantly reduced malaria cases in the Bastar region. “Our priority is to reach every infected person, treat them on time, and ensure there's no scope for future transmission,” she said. She also noted that the department is focusing particularly on asymptomatic malaria cases, aiming to eliminate the disease at its root.

The success of this campaign has also been made possible through the active involvement of Mitanins (community health workers), Anganwadi workers, village panchayats, and volunteer organizations. This is no longer just a health initiative, but has transformed into a people’s movement. In addition to diagnosis and treatment, the campaign is educating communities on practical preventive measures like regular use of mosquito nets, prevention of water stagnation, and maintaining cleanliness.

This robust and compassionate initiative by the Chhattisgarh government, under the foresighted leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is not only a strong and sustainable step toward eliminating malaria from the state, but is also emerging as a national model in public health strategy. In the coming years, this comprehensive and community-driven approach is expected to inspire similar efforts across other states.

CM Vishnu Deo Sai Calls for Becoming ‘Wetland Mitras’ to Protect Ecological Heritage:High-Level Workshop on Wetland and Biodiversity Conservation Held in Nava Raipur

Raipur, July 14, 2025 // A high-level workshop was organised today at Dandakaranya Aranya Bhawan in Nava Raipur with the objective of promoting the conservation of biodiversity and wetlands. The event witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, along with all Cabinet Ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly.

Addressing the workshop, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the vision of a developed Chhattisgarh is incomplete without ensuring environmental balance and biodiversity conservation. He urged every public representative and citizen to take personal responsibility in conserving biodiversity and wetlands by joining the campaign as 'Wetland Mitras', and helping turn this initiative into a mass movement.

Presiding over the workshop, Minister for Forest and Climate Change Shri Kedar Kashyap emphasized that the conservation of biodiversity and wetlands is not merely an environmental requirement but also a matter of securing the future of coming generations. He appealed to all public representatives to actively participate in biodiversity conservation and spread awareness by becoming ‘Wetland Mitras’.

Shri Rakesh Chaturvedi, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Biodiversity Board, delivered a detailed presentation during the session. He spoke about the 1992 Earth Summit, the Biological Diversity Act of 2002, the role of the National Biodiversity Authority, and the structure and functions of Biodiversity Management Committees. He informed that Chhattisgarh is the third state in the country where such committees are working effectively.

Regarding wetland conservation, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Arun Kumar Pandey explained that wetlands play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance. He detailed the functioning of the State Wetland Authority and the formation of District-level Wetland Conservation Committees, which are strengthening local monitoring and conservation efforts across the state.

It was also shared during the programme that the Gidhwa-Parsada Bird Sanctuary in the state is eligible to be recognised as an international Ramsar site. Additionally, the process to list Khokhra village in Balodabazar district as Chhattisgarh’s first official Ramsar site is currently underway.

At the conclusion of the workshop, all public representatives and officials were urged to join the initiative as 'Wetland Mitras' and actively contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and wetlands. This collective participation is expected to transform environmental awareness into a people’s movement across the state.
