With only days remaining in 2024, preparations for welcoming 2025 are underway. Coinciding with the new year, several important rule changes will come into effect in the country from January 1, 2025. These changes span various sectors, from LPG prices to EPFO regulations.

Let us delve into these upcoming changes and their potential impact:

Usually, the government adjusts LPG prices on the first of each month. Recently, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders has fluctuated considerably. However, prices for the 14 kg domestic cylinders have remained steady for a prolonged period. Therefore, another price adjustment for LPG cylinders is anticipated this month.

PF account holders could gain a significant benefit at the beginning of 2025: the ability to withdraw funds from ATMs. The Labour Ministry is actively developing this feature as part of an IT system upgrade. Labour Secretary Sumita Dawra recently stated that the Ministry of Labour and Employment aims to streamline PF withdrawals and enhance overall service quality through these technological advancements.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently announced that from January 1, 2025, UPI payments up to Rs 10,000 can be made using UPI 123Pay in feature phones. The previous limit for such transactions was Rs 5,000.

In a relief to farmers, the RBI has also raised the limit on unsecured loans to Rs 2 lakh. Effective from 1 January 2025, the new rules enhance the previous limit of Rs 1.60 lakh.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced a change to the expiry day of its contracts, effective from 1 January 2025. The NSE issued a circular regarding this change on November 29. Monthly contracts for FinNifty, MidCPNifty, and NiftyNext50 will now expire on the last Thursday of the respective month. Similarly, both monthly and quarterly contracts for BankNifty will expire on the last Thursday of the expiry month.

The recent passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has ignited a fierce political dispute between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party. The controversy escalated when BJP leader Amit Malviya accused Rahul Gandhi of exploiting Manmohan Singh's death for political gain. “While the country is mourning Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s demise, Rahul Gandhi has flown to Vietnam to ring in the New Year”, Malviya alleged.
BJP's Accusations Against Rahul Gandhi
BJP leader Amit Malviya took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticise LoP Rahul Gandhi's decision to travel abroad during a period of national mourning.

Malviya chimed in on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots jibes against Congress and stated, “Rahul Gandhi politicised and exploited Dr Singh’s death for his expedient politics but his contempt for him is unmissable. The Gandhis and the Congress hate the Sikhs. Never forget that Indira Gandhi desecrated the Darbar Sahib.”
Malviya further alleged that Rahul Gandhi had politicised Manmohan Singh's death and expressed contempt for him, claiming that "the Gandhis and the Congress hate Sikhs" due to historical grievances related to Indira Gandhi.
Congress Responds to Amit Malviya
In retaliation, Congress leaders have denounced the BJP's remarks as a diversionary tactic. Manickam Tagore, a prominent Congress leader, questioned when the BJP would cease its "take diversion" politics and highlighted perceived disrespect shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Singh's cremation.
Tagore remarked, “When will the Sanghis stop this ‘Take Diversion’ politics?The way Modi denied Dr. Saheb a place for cremation on the Yamuna banks and how his ministers cornered Dr. Saheb’s family is shameful. If Mr Gandhi travel privately, why does it bother you? Get well in New year.”
Manmohan Singh's Funeral Controversy
The tensions surrounding Dr. Manmohan Singh's funeral arrangements have also been a focal point of contention. Congress accused the BJP of mismanagement and disrespect, asserting that ex-PM Manmohan Singh was denied an appropriate cremation site on the banks of the Yamuna River.

The BJP has countered these claims, asserting that all protocols were followed during the state funeral and that adequate arrangements were made for Singh's family

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has ruled out the inclusion of petrol under GST, citing its impact on state revenues and the ongoing fluid economic situation. He, however, indicated that fuel prices might decrease if global crude oil prices stabilise and international turbulence subsides.  
Currently, international crude oil prices hover around $72-$73 per barrel. "If prices stay within this range or drop further, there's scope for reduction in retail prices," Puri said in a podcast - Top Angle. However, he said, a rise to $80 per barrel would leave no room for relief. 

When asked whether the inclusion of petrol under the GST will bring down the prices, the minister said: "Petrol is not going to come under GST anytime soon because the current situation is quite fluid. Petrol cannot be brought under GST as it generates significant revenue for the states, and the states will never agree to it."
  
India, which relies on imports for over 85% of its crude oil needs, has managed to keep petrol and diesel prices stable in recent years. Puri explained that the price of crude oil depends on several factors: the cost of a barrel internationally, insurance, freight charges, and the dollar exchange rate. 
While international crude prices have indeed fallen, he said, the dollar exchange rate and insurance and freight charges have risen. Despite these challenges, India is one of the few countries where petrol and diesel prices have decreased over the last three years, the minister added. 

Puri said that India's petrol prices are significantly lower compared to neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Even globally, he said, India's performance in absolute terms has been better, with prices either stabilising or declining. "Within India, petrol and diesel prices in BJP-ruled states are Rs 10 cheaper than in non-BJP-ruled states. The real question should be when prices in non-BJP-ruled states will come down?"

The minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is dedicated to ensuring that economically weaker sections are not burdened. He suggested that while oil marketing companies have made some profits in petrol, they have suffered losses in gas. He said gas cylinders priced at Rs 1,200 are now available for Rs 500 under the Ujjwala scheme and these subsidies have resulted in significant losses for oil marketing companies, amounting to Rs 40,000 crore in the past year alone.  
Puri said that currently, more oil is available in the Western Hemisphere. Brazil produces 3 million barrels per day, and according to their findings, an additional 400,000 barrels will come, he added. "More oil is also coming from places like Canada, Suriname, Guyana, and the United States."

"If the oil supply increases in these areas, I believe the cost of extraction can vary from $45 per barrel to $80. However, there are several countries that have increased their costs and will want prices to stay above $80-$85. But it will be difficult for them because if there is more oil, someone else will provide it. If the supply continues to increase, I can confidently say that by the end of 2025, natural gas prices will come down considerably," he added. 

The minister said that India's strategic shift in sourcing crude oil also played a crucial role in stabilising fuel prices. Following the Russia-Ukraine war, India increased oil imports from Russia, which now accounts for 38% of its crude supply, up from 0.2% in February 2022. "The move helped control global inflation and addressed supply shortages," Puri stated, adding that Western nations, including the US, supported India's decision to purchase discounted Russian oil.

The RBI’s decision to close certain types of bank accounts stems from its objective to enhance the safety, transparency, and efficiency of banking transactions. By streamlining the system, the apex bank aims to curb fraudulent activities, particularly bank account hacking, and promote digitalisation and modernisation within the sector. This new rule is designed to minimise risks, address shortcomings in banking operations, and provide better services to customers while protecting their interests.

As of January 1, 2025, three specific types of bank accounts will face closure under these new guidelines. But which accounts are under the radar? Let’s take a closer look.

1. Dormant Accounts
A dormant account is one where there have been no transactions for a continuous period of two years or more. These accounts are particularly vulnerable to misuse by hackers, who often target inactive accounts for fraudulent activities. To safeguard customers and the banking system, the RBI has decided to close such accounts.
2. Inactive Accounts
Inactive accounts are those with no transaction activity over a specified period (typically 12 months or more). These accounts will also be closed as part of the RBI’s efforts to enhance account security and reduce the risk of fraudulent behaviour. If your account falls into this category, it is essential to either reactivate it or face potential closure.
3. Zero Balance Accounts
Accounts that maintain a zero balance for an extended period will also be subject to closure. The RBI’s objective is to prevent the misuse of such accounts, minimise financial risks, and encourage customers to maintain active relationships with their banks. Additionally, this measure is intended to strengthen Know Your Customer (KYC) norms and ensure that all customer information is up to date and accurate.

India's industry body representatives were seeking a reduction in personal income tax rates from the Finance Minister at the pre-budget meeting on Monday to ensure higher disposable income in the hands of the nation's middle-class population, reported the news agency PTI on December 30.
“From a perspective of boosting consumption, we have suggested that there be some relief provided to income tax up to a ₹20 lakh on the marginal income tax rate so that it boosts consumption, there is more disposable income and in turn also leads to buoyancy in revenues,” Sanjiv Puri, the Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) told the news agency. 

Along with income tax, the representatives urged Nirmala Sitharaman to reduce the excise duty on fuel and take measures to provide impetus to employment-intensive sectors, as per the news report.

“We have also suggested that excise on petroleum be reduced a little, that will also provide higher disposable income and contribute to a virtuous cycle in the hands of the consumers,” said Puri, cited the news agency.
Industry bodies also raised concerns about China dumping excess commodities globally, including in India, which risks food security and inflation due to the “climate emergency,” reported the agency. 

“We are seeing dumping of a lot of products (by China) into various parts of the world, including India. We also have the issue of climate emergency, which, besides other things, also impacts food and nutrition, (food) security and inflation. In this context, we have made several suggestions and ideas,” he said, as per the report.

CCI Chairman Sanjiv Puri told the news agency that even though the Indian economy is doing well, there are many challenges globally.

Apart from Nirmala Sitharaman, the pre-budget meeting was attended by the finance secretary, the secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, and the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India, among others. 
“Finance Minister and her colleagues gave a very patient hearing to the industry today. There were about 13 people from different industry chambers. There was some commonality of themes across some of the representations, basically the temporary slowdown faced due to dumping products especially by some our neighbours like China due to the slowdown in their economy,” said Vijay Sankar, vice president of FICCI, cited the news portal. 

Other industry body members like Hemant Jain, the president of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), and Sanjay Nayar, the president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), also attended the pre-budget meeting.

Amid the uproar over high taxation, the Indian government is reportedly considering a major relief for middle-class taxpayers, especially those earning up to Rs 10.5 lakh annually (US$12,300). Indian media reports suggest the move could be announced in the 2025 Budget on February 1, aimed at boosting consumer spending amid a slowing economy.

What is the current system?

As per the latest income tax regime announced in 2020, income between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 10.5 lakh attracts tax rates between 5 per cent and 20 per cent. Those earning more than Rs 10.5 have to pay a staggering tax of 30 per cent.

Today, Indian taxpayers have the option to choose from two regimes: the old regime, which offers exemptions for expenses such as housing rent and insurance; and the new regime which offers lower taxation rates but eliminates most exemptions.

Now, if the proposed tax relief is offered, more people will rush to adopt the simplified 2020 regime. The report clarifies that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has not yet decided on the size of the deductions or relief. The Finance Ministry or Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have not commented on these reports. Indian economy is slowing Changes to the Indian taxation system are being considered amid concerns over growing economic challenges. GDP growth between July and September in 2024 has fallen to the lowest in the last seven quarters. Food inflation is also on the rise, further pushing down the cost of living. A decline in sales of items such as vehicles, household goods and personal care products also indicates worrying trends for the economy. By offering tax relief, the government wants to boost spending and boost growth.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman did not mince words while addressing middle class taxpayers. Acknowledging their struggles, she outlined the tax changes made in the last Budget aimed at putting more money in their pockets without breaking the government's bank.

"I respect the issue of giving relief to the middle class. I want to do more, but there are limits in taxation. To bring about a change for salaried people, the standard deduction has been increased from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000," Sitharaman said in an interview to Times Now.

This adjustment along with revised tax rates is aimed at benefiting not just middle-income earners but also higher-income groups by providing incremental relief across different tax brackets, she added.

The government is reportedly exploring the possibility of a sweeping income tax cut for individuals earning up to ₹15 lakh annually, which would potentially impact millions of urban taxpayers grappling with high living costs. The move is in line with the broader goal of stimulating consumption amid an economic slowdown, reports Reuters.

Under the 2020 tax regime, income between ₹3 lakh and ₹15 lakh is taxed at rates ranging from 5% to 20%, while higher incomes are taxed at 30%.

The proposed changes, if implemented, will provide relief to taxpayers who opt for this system, which does not include exemptions such as housing rentals.

Apart from tax reforms, Sitharaman outlined initiatives targeting education and affordable housing in the interview. "Concessional interest for student loans up to ₹10 lakh and benefits for affordable housing are important steps to support families," he said, emphasising the government's commitment to overall financial relief.

The context of these measures is clear. India's economic growth between July and September was the slowest in seven quarters, including food inflation, which has dampened demand for consumer goods and vehicles. The number of taxpayers with incomes between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 1 crore has grown by 440% over the past decade, reflecting growing financial pressures on the middle and higher income groups. With the upcoming budget, the government's focus is clear: address taxpayer concerns, boost consumption and address economic challenges with targeted measures.

In his address, Shri Amit Shah stated that the historic Bastar Olympics 2024 is coming to a close today. He said that the Bastar Olympics is not merely limited to the 150,000 children present here, but will become a symbol of hope for all seven districts of Bastar. He further mentioned that in coming days the Bastar Olympics willbecome a saga of Bastar’s development and will deal a decisive blow to Naxalism.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that Bastar is changing today, but when the Bastar Olympics will be held in 2026, we can surely say that our Bastar has changed. He said that these games have initiated the transition from "changing" to "completely changed”. He further mentioned that the positive energy of the Bastar Olympics will prevent millions of tribal youths from straying down the wrong path, connect them with the process of building India, and become a means for the welfare of millions of rural and tribal people. Shri Shah added that the Bastar Olympics will lay the foundation for peace, security, development, and new hopes in the region. He emphasized that half of the medals won by India in international competitions are brought by our children from tribal families. He expressed confidence that the Bastar Olympics and the development initiated through them will open the horizons of the world for the tribal children of Bastar in the coming days. He said that the wheelchair race of differently abled people affected by Naxal violence will become a symbol of pace of Bastar’s development.

Shri Amit Shah recalled a time when Bastar lacked basic amenities like electricity and water, faced famine, and saw schools being burned and dispensaries and hospitals closed. However, he highlighted that in the past year, the state government has launched a massive campaign to transform the villages of Bastar. He mentioned that although the central government did not receive support from the state government over the last five years, but when his party formed the government, the campaign against Naxalism again intensified. He noted that within just one year, 287 Naxalites were neutralized, nearly 1,000 were arrested, and 837 surrendered.

Union Home Minister urged the Naxalites to abandon the path of violence, join the mainstream of society, and move forward on the path of development, contributing to the progress of Chhattisgarh. He emphasized that the Chhattisgarh government has introduced the most attractive surrender policy in the entire country. Shri Shah further stated that the Chhattisgarh government is committed to implementing over 300 public welfare schemes from both the Government of India and the state government in every village across the state. He highlighted the ‘Niyad Nellanar’ scheme as an initiative aimed at transforming villages into a paradise. He noted that today, schools are operational in Bastar, electricity has been provided, phone connectivity is available, roads are being constructed, drinking water is accessible, and every tribal person receives 5 kg of food grains per month. Additionally, the Modi government is providing free medical treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh.

Shri Amit Shah highlighted that in the past 10 years, the Modi government has tackled Naxalism on two fronts. On one hand, the security measures against Naxalites involved in violence have been strengthened, effectively curbing their activities. On the other hand, efforts have been made to rehabilitate surrendered Naxalites. He emphasized that the Modi government has also focused on developing Naxalism-affected areas, which had fallen behind in the development race. Because of the efforts of the Modi government, there has been a 73% reduction in the deaths of security forces and a 70% reduction in civilian casualties in areas plagued by Naxalism since 1983. The Home Minister reaffirmed the Modi government's commitment to completely eradicating Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation stated that once Naxalism is eradicated, Bastar will attract more tourists than Kashmir due to its abundant natural beauty. He highlighted that the Modi government is focused on promoting tourism, small-scale industries, and the dairy sector within the cooperative framework in the region. Additionally, the government is working to support tribal farmers by purchasing their paddy at Rs. 3,100 per quintal. Shri Shah announced that a similar scheme will be introduced soon for the purchase of Tendu leaves, ensuring that farmers are treated fairly and that funds are not diverted to Naxalism. He also mentioned that Prime Minister Modi has approved the construction of 15,000 additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the families of those who surrendered, or were disabled due to Naxal violence, or were killed in Naxal attacks. Of these houses, more than 9,000 houses are being built in Bastar. This, he said, reflects the deep empathy Prime Minister Modi has for the Naxalism-affected areas.

Shri Amit Shah expressed confidence that when the Olympic Games will be held in India in 2036, one of the children present at this Bastar event will win a medal for the country, and the entire nation will be proud. He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi's core mantra is "Sports for All, Sports for Excellence," and the government is committed to realizing this vision in Bastar. Shri Shah assured that Bastar will achieve 100% saturation in development, tourism, peace, and the implementation of all public welfare schemes, and that Chhattisgarh will soon be completely free from Naxalism.

Union Home Minister highlighted that over the past 10 years, Prime Minister Modi has advanced the protection of water, forest, and land, alongside prioritizing security, respect, and inclusive development. He noted that PM Modi has worked tirelessly to establish peace and stability by eradicating Naxalism, and has built museums across the country to honor the sacrifices of hundreds of tribal freedom fighters who gave their lives for the independence struggle. Shri Shah further stated that Modi ji declared 15 November, the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day). He also pointed out that in 2013-2014, the tribal welfare budget was Rs 28,000 crore, but under Prime Minister Modi, it has been increased to Rs 1,33,000 crore for the year 2024-2025. Shri Shah emphasized that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre is fully committed to the development of tribal areas, villages, and tribal youth who have long been left behind in the development race.

Shri Amit Shah stated that in the past, the District Mineral Fund was primarily used for industrial purposes, but under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, a significant portion of this fund has been redirected towards the development of tribal villages. He added that over the last 10 years, an additional Rs. 97,000 crore has been allocated to tribal areas. He highlighted that during this period, 708 Eklavya Model Residential Schools were established at a cost of Rs. 6,400 crore, which is 27 times more than the number built during the previous government's 10-year tenure. Shri Shah also mentioned that the Modi government allocated Rs. 7,000 crore for the Janjatiya Adarsh Gram Yojana, Rs. 15,000 crore for the Prime Minister PVTG Development Mission, and provided comprehensive facilities to 5 crore tribal people across 63,000 villages under the Janjatiya Unnat Gram Yojana.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation emphasized that it is our collective responsibility to establish peace in Bastar, foster its development while preserving its natural beauty, and attract tourists from around the world. He stated that this can only be achieved through the construction of roads, the introduction of railways, the provision of electricity and water, and, most importantly, the establishment of peace, which he noted, will only be realized once Naxalism is completely eradicated.

In his address following the meeting, Shri Amit Shah highlighted that in 2019, youth in Kashmir, the Northeast, and Naxalism-affected areas were ruining their lives by taking up arms, engaging in violence, and keeping their regions deprived of development. He explained that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a decision was made to provide an opportunity for those willing to lay down their arms and reintegrate them into society. Shri Shah shared that from 2019 to 2024, over 9,000 individuals in the Northeast alone have surrendered their weapons. He also mentioned that many youths in Naxalism-affected areas have similarly joined the mainstream, and now the Government of India is formulating a comprehensive plan for the welfare of these individuals and those suffering from the impact of Naxalism. The Home Minister further revealed that Prime Minister Modi has approved the construction of 15,000 houses in Naxal-affected regions. Additionally, the government is launching a program to establish dairy cooperatives by providing one cow or buffalo to every family in these areas.

Union Home Minister said that after the formation of the government in Chhattisgarh last year, a commitment was made to make the state free from Naxalism. He emphasized that violence is not the solution, and those who have taken up arms must be reintegrated into society. He praised the Chhattisgarh government's surrender policy as one of the best, and expressed the intention to replicate this model nationwide, aiming to rehabilitate the youth who have laid down their arms and help them rejoin the mainstream of society.

Shri Amit Shah urged the youth involved in violence to lay down their arms and embrace the mainstream of society. Speaking about the Bastar Olympics, he highlighted that the talented youth of Bastar represent the future of India. He emphasised that a process should be started to make the children of Bastar capable of winning medals from 2025 onwards till 2036 Olympics.Shri Shah expressed that when a girl from Bastar wins a medal in the 2036 Olympics, it will serve as a powerful response to Naxalism and send a global message that development, not violence, is the path to success.

Union Home Minister said that only a few areas remain affected by Naxalism. He emphasized that those involved in violence are also our own people. He highlighted that the citizens of the state require essential services like schools, dispensaries, hospitals, free food grains, electricity, toilets, and clean water, and it is the responsibility of the Chhattisgarh government to provide these facilities to every village. Shri Shah further mentioned that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Bastar is the top priority for all welfare schemes of the Central Government. He assured that those who have laid down their arms and joined the mainstream of society have placed their trust in Prime Minister Modi, and that trust will not be broken. He also expressed confidence that seeing these individuals, many more youths will give up arms and choose the path of peace and development.

Raipur: The Finance Department has approved the proposal to increase the maximum income limit of dependents of government servants. Now, approval has been given to increase the maximum limit of income for the dependents of government servants from Rs 3,050 per month to Rs 7,750 per month.With the increase in the income limit, all those dependents whose income was more than Rs 3,050 will be eligible to avail the benefit of family pension.

It is noteworthy that since 2014, there was no increase in the maximum limit of income for the dependents of government servants, whereas the income of workers in the state is continuously increasing. The daily wage rate for semi-skilled workers has now reached Rs 10,900 per month.In such a situation, the government servants whose dependents were earning more than Rs 3,050 per month were not able to get the benefit of family pension.

This step will improve the condition of dependents of government servants and will also ensure economic-social security. This will provide relief to those families who depend on family pension after the death of a government servant. With this increase in the income limit, they will also now get the benefit of family pension.

He credited the local residents for preserving their traditional knowledge and resources, which have transformed Dhudmaras into a major tourist destination. The village is renowned for its natural beauty, tribal culture, and biodiversity, attracting visitors with its unique blend of traditional lifestyle, local cuisine, and scenic landscapes.

As part of the UNWTO’s upgradation program, Dhudmaras will receive support to enhance its tourism infrastructure, promote its cultural heritage, and improve the quality of life for villagers. This recognition is expected to increase international tourism in the region, especially following the Best Tourism Village Award received by Dhudmaras and nearby Chitrakot village from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, on World Tourism Day (September 27, 2024).

Natural Beauty and Community Engagement

Nestled in dense forests with the Kanger River flowing through it, Dhudmaras offers an idyllic setting for eco-tourism. The warmth and hospitality of the Bastar people play a key role in the village’s tourism success. Local residents are offering homestays and accommodation facilities, while the village youth serve as guides for tourists, showcasing the surrounding areas.

Government Initiatives for Sustainable Tourism

To boost tourism, the Chhattisgarh government is improving roads and transport facilities in the area, alongside promoting local handicrafts in global markets. The Forest and Tourism Departments have been instrumental in establishing avenues for Atmanirbhar Bharat by developing Dhudmaras as an eco-tourism destination, and new initiatives are expanding the range of activities available to visitors.

In Nagalsar and Netanar villages, located within Kanger Valley National Park, local youth through the Eco-Tourism Development Committee are offering kayaking and bamboo rafting on the Shabri and Kanger rivers. This initiative has not only enhanced the tourism experience but also provided a steady source of income for the community, with the committee reinvesting its earnings to build basic facilities such as waiting rooms and restrooms for tourists.

Empowered by Tourism and Forest Departments through training and capacity building youths of 40 families of local Dhurwa Tribe are conducting Kayaking, Bamboo rafting and trekking activities. Interestingly, activities like home stays are also included where they introduce the tourists traditional way of Tribal life including their unique customs, crafts and festivals.

A Model for Rural Development

The success of Dhudmaras demonstrates the potential of community participation combined with government support to drive economic and cultural development in rural areas. Dhudmaras now serves as an inspiration for other villages in Bastar, encouraging the promotion of eco-tourism and local heritage. The Chhattisgarh government is expanding these efforts, with Nagalsar and Netanar also being developed as eco-tourism hubs in the region.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in Bastar’s journey to becoming a globally recognized eco-tourism destination, benefiting both the local communities and the broader region.

While sharing his delight of earning a livelihood through homestay operator, one of the Dhurva community youth Mansingh Baghel said, “Many people have got employment from Homestay and some youth are taking the visitors for cooking, camping, trekking and bird watching. 

Even as adventure tourism is providing thrill to tourists a prominent use of localy available natural resources like bamboo raft, bamboo made dustbins, mud houses, leaf platters and various operations are also providing responsible and sustainable tourism. All along nature conservation served as a bottom line of all activities. 

Appreciating the unique experience of Homestay in Dhudmaras village, a tourist Vidya from Banguluru said, “Its been an amazing experience of spending time with Dhurwa community, I was accommodating in a local homestay where I relished local cuisine with friendly people.”  

Dhudmaras is close proximity of Kanger Valley National Park, which is inhabited by indigenous Tribal communities including Dhurwa and Maria Tribes. Visitors have the opportunity to learn and explore their customs, hospitality and scenic views. 

The introduction of tourism activities has brought evident changes in lives of Dudhmaras villagers. The employment opportunities encouraged youth to deviate from joining Naxal movement and these initiatives have alos proved effective tool in curbing migration problem of the villagers. Resonating with the fact, a Self Help Group Member Mangaldevi Baghel said, “Earlier we were not getting employment in the village due to which we had to migrate to another place. Now we are leading a decent life by working at locally.”

Raipur : Appreciating glorious history of Tribal community on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas at Science College Ground, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday said that Former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have worked to increase the honor, respect and pride of the Tribal community. Shri Atal ji created a separate ministry for the welfare of the Tribal community and gave a new direction to the development of this community. Prime Minister Shri Modi has started many schemes for the upliftment of the tribal community. A budget provision of Rs 24,000 crore has been made under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana and Rs 80,000 crore for the Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, due to which the development of infrastructure in tribal areas and the betterment of the tribes is being done rapidly.

As a thoughtful gesture, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai announced the Chief Minister's Samman Nidhi for the Baiga, Gunia, Sirha people belonging to the tribal community of Chhattisgarh state on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Under this, they will be given financial assistance of Rs 5,000 annually. The Chief Minister announced the launch of Akhra Nirman Vikas Yojana for religious and auspicious functions in Tribal villages and the installation of statues of the martyrs of the Tribal community at identified sites.

Chief Minister Shri Sai honored the dignitaries of the tribal community, the martyrs of the tribal rebellion in the state and the family members of freedom fighters in the ceremony. He awarded the winners of the Tribal painting competition. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai released the 'Atlas' related to Forest Rights Act, calendar 'Shauryanjali' and a book published on the subject of 'Halba Janjati Ki Vachik Paramparayein'. These have been published by Chhattisgarh Tribal Development Department

On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Arun Singh, who was presiding over the program, appreciated the work being done for the upliftment and welfare of all sections in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. He said that the popularity and humility of Chief Minister Shri Sai is appreciated all over the country. He said that by coming to the Tribal Pride Day and Inter-State Dance Festival organized in Raipur, he has witnessed 'Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat'. He congratulated Chief Minister Shri Sai for this special event of Rashtriya Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas- National Tribal Pride Day. 

While paying obeisance to the great men of the Tribal community, Shri Arun Singh said, “Only those countries and societies remain truly awake that honor their culture and remember their great leaders.”

Tribal Development Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has shown concern for the upliftment of the tribal community. He has implemented many schemes for the development of this community. He said that the Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lead to the overall development of 6500 villages and improvement of standard of living of the people of the tribal community is improving through the PM Janman Yojana.

It is noteworthy that on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several important projects worth Rs 6600 crores for the development and expansion of basic facilities in the remote rural areas of the country. The Prime Minister said that we are spending five times the budget for the welfare of the tribal areas and tribal community of the country. Ten years ago, its budget was only Rs 25,000 crores, but it has now increased to Rs 1,25,000 crores.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural function marking the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Jamui, Bihar. The event was broadcast live across the country. In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized efforts to correct historical injustices, highlighting that tribal communities had been denied their rightful place in history despite their significant contributions. He praised the tribal society for its role in India's freedom struggle, with countless heroes sacrificing their lives for their culture, identity, and independence.

Shri Modi acknowledged the contributions of President Smt. Draupadi Murmu in advancing the welfare of tribal communities, particularly through the PM Janman Yojana, which has allocated Rs 24,000 crore for the development of tribal settlements and villages. Tribal-dominated districts have been identified as aspirational districts, ensuring their all-round development.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the nation on the occasion of National Tribal Pride Day and the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, linking it to significant cultural celebrations like Kartik Purnima, Dev Deepawali, and Guru Nanak Ji's Prakash Parv. He announced the creation of Birsa Munda Tribal Gardens in districts and called for adopting the traditions and ideals of tribal society as a foundation for the country's progress.

The event was attended by various public representatives, tribal society officials, and citizens, including MLAs, former ministers, and senior officials.

Raipur : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited the photo exhibition of the Public Relations Department on the second evening of Rajyotsav on Wednesday.

 On this occasion, the Chief Minister interacted the artists present there and expressed his happiness by playing the Mandar instrument. Chief Minister Shri Sai was seen in a different style, dancing to the beats of the Mandar with the artists. People appreciated Chief Minister's down to earth approach with common man along with his simplicity in one to one interaction with Chhattisgarhi artists. On this occasion, Rikhi Kshatriya presented a Mandar to the Chief Minister on his behalf.

It is worth noting that various schemes, development works and public welfare projects of the state have been displayed in the exhibition of the Public Relations Department. The Chief Minister appreciated the schemes and achievements shown in the exhibition and called it an important medium to increase awareness among the public. On this occasion, he listened to the speech given by former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the United Nations General Assembly in Hindi, being broadcasted through LED TV, wearing headphones.

The speech was given by Shri Vajpayee ji on 4 October, 1977 representing the country as the Foreign Minister of India. The speech was given in Hindi language which became a historic in the United Nations General Assembly. During which he raised many serious issues like nuclear disarmament and terrorism. He said that India wants friendship with all the countries and India will always play a leading role in world peace. He strongly put forward the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam on the world stage and said that I assure this General Assembly on behalf of India that we will never lag behind in the time of sacrifice and renunciation for the attainment of the ideals of one world and for the welfare and glory of mankind.

Chief Minister Shri Sai described the speech of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee as historic and said that it will make India proud. Chief Minister Shri Sai rewarded the students of Dani School and Kali Bari School who were winners in the Prashna Mala program at the Public Relations Department's exhibition. Students Lavina Verma, Kiran Sahu Suman, Mahima Verma, Deepika Dhiwar urged the Chief Minister to organize such events from time to time. In the Public Relations exhibition, Rikhi Kshatriya Bhilai displayed musical instruments of Chhattisgarh to preserve and promote the culture of Chhattisgarh.

Raipur - Moving forward with the concept of prosperity and good governance through service, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the CIMS Super Specialty Hospital built at a cost of 200 crores in Bilaspur (Koni) on the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and Ninth Ayurveda Day. 

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony organized at Super Specialty Hospital Koni. Prime Minister Shri Modi virtually launched and laid the foundation stone of several health projects worth more than Rs 12,850 crore at various places in the country at a ceremony held in New Delhi, including the inauguration of CIMS Hospital, and the foundation stone laying of the 100-bed Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIY) to be built in Raipur. 

On this occasion, Prime Minister Shri Modi said, “Healthier the population, the quicker the country's progress." 

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi wished the citizens on Dhanteras and Lord Dhanvantari Jayanti and said that this celebration of good fortune and health on the day of Dhanteras is not just a coincidence, it is a celebration of health and prosperity. People from all over the world come to India for yoga and Panchkarma, their number will increase further in the coming times. He said that the Government of India is working with sensitivity in the field of health.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, while addressing the program, said that on this auspicious day, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given a big gift to the Bilaspur in the field of health.

The Multi Super Specialty Hospital located in Bilaspur is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The hospital will not only provide better treatment facilities to the villagers around Bilaspur but also to patients of Surguja division, added Shri Sai.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that the hospital built at a cost of 200 crores under the leadership of the Prime Minister of the country Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai is a great gift for the people of Bilaspur on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras Diwas.

MLA Sushant Shukla said that the inauguration of this hospital will set a new record in the field of health.

Delivering the welcome address in the program, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Pingua described the inauguration of this multi super specialty hospital as a historic moment for Bilaspur. 

It is worth noting that in 2003, former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee had initiated the Swasthya Suraksha Yojana to increase the reach of quality health facilities in remote areas and to strengthen medical facilities. 

Two super specialty hospitals are being started in Chhattisgarh under Phase 4 of the Prime Minister's Health Security Scheme, which includes this super specialty hospital built at a cost of Rs 200 crores. This 11-storey hospital is the tallest building in Bilaspur is sprawled in around 2.5 acres of land area with facilities like CT scan, MRI, digital X-ray, color Doppler TMT machine. This 240-bed hospital will have 70 ICU and ICCU beds. A total eight modular operation theaters have also been constructed in this hospital. At present four OPDs are being started in this hospital, including Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Pulmonology and General Medicine. Blood bank and pathology lab facilities will also be available in this hospital.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited the facilities available in this grand 11-storey hospital building. He inspected the rooms like CT scan, X-ray, blood bank, pathology lab etc. During this, various materials and certificates were also distributed under the health scheme. He distributed motorized tricycles, two bike ambulances for operating in remote areas, five sickle cards, five Ayushman cards to 37 beneficiaries. Similarly, he provided NQAS certificate to seven centers of the district including three primary health centers including the district hospital, Kargi Kala, Hardi Kala, Navagaon Salka and 03 sub health centers Mitthu Navagaon, Majhwani, Pendrava to ensure better quality in the health center. NQAS certificates are provided under National Quality Supervisory Committee under the Health and Family Welfare Department to ensure better health and quality.

Raipur - Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the 100-bed Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) in Raipur from the All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi on National Ayurveda Day. Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shri Modi stated, "The more healthy the people of the country are, the faster the progress of the country will be." He highlighted that the number of people from around the world seeking yoga and panchakarma treatments in India is expected to rise significantly in the future. He affirmed that the Government of India is working with sensitivity to improve health care.

The Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy is being established under the Central Council of Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN). The institute is set to be completed within 24 months at an estimated cost of Rs 90 crore, with the state government providing 10 acres of land for its development. This will mark Chhattisgarh's first yoga and naturopathy research center and hospital, offering treatment facilities for non-communicable diseases including obesity, prediabetes, metabolic syndrome, and arthritis.

The research center will have outpatient and administrative blocks, inpatient wards, staff quarters, a yoga hall, a diet center, massage and physiotherapy sections, as well as dedicated research facilities. It will also conduct training certification courses in spa and wellness therapy, alongside fellowship courses in research. The opening of this institute is expected to enhance knowledge regarding the benefits of yoga and naturopathy.

Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal stated "India is constantly moving forward by preserving its old methods. Today, on the occasion of Dhanteras, the gift that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given to the state in the form of the Central Yoga and Naturopathy Research Institute will be remembered by us and our future generations. The establishment of this research center will create self-employment opportunities for the youth, enabling them to receive training and promote entrepreneurship. India has always been a leader in yoga and Ayurveda, and the opening of such research centers will further enhance this tradition. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai is committed to the comprehensive development of Chhattisgarh, with the expansion of health facilities being a top priority."
