Breaking: Major update on paddy procurement; procurement to begin on November 17th, not 15th, Collector makes major announcement
CG Breaking: Preparations for purchasing paddy at the support price in Chhattisgarh are now in the final stages. However, the strike by cooperative society employees has certainly increased the administration's tension. However, the district administration has implemented alternative arrangements without wasting any time.
The procurement was supposed to begin on November 15th, but since November 15th and 16th fell on Saturday and Sunday, paddy procurement will now begin on Monday, November 17th. Collector Sanjay Agarwal has taken a major decision to ensure that the system does not stop even during the strike. He has assigned the responsibility of committee manager and paddy procurement in-charge to the officers and employees of the Revenue, Agriculture, Food and Cooperative departments. So that paddy procurement can proceed smoothly and transparently without any interruption in 140 procurement centers.
The Collector said that in case of a strike, the government has also engaged a private company from Delhi on an outsourcing basis, so that there is no impact on the procurement system. The Collector also allayed the farmers' concerns regarding gunny bags. He informed that there is no shortage of gunny bags in the district, new bundles have also arrived. This time, the arrangement of cameras and monitoring at the procurement centers has been improved as compared to the last time. Also, paddy procurement will be done on the basis of the AgriStake portal. The work of those farmers whose AgriStake is not updated will be done immediately.
The collector says that this alternative arrangement has been made in the interest of farmers and that paddy procurement will begin on November 17th in any case. The Bilaspur district administration claims that preparations are complete and that farmers will receive smooth, safe, and timely paddy procurement this time as well. It remains to be seen whether the administration's claims are true.
