Credibility is the biggest strength of media: Public Relations Department organised a seminar on National Press Day….

Raipur: On the occasion of National Press Day, a symposium was held today at the Directorate of Public Relations. Editors, senior journalists, and officials from the Public Relations Department expressed their views.

Senior editor Jaiprakash Mishra said that some people, in order to protect their own interests, spread misinformation by sending out similar misleading content simultaneously, which increases the algorithm, confusing readers into believing it to be true. Citing the example of the Delhi Metro, he said that whenever there was a disruption in the metro, Sridharan ji would immediately release news in the media, including the expected time required to fix the technical error. When accurate and quality information is spread, misleading information cannot survive.

Editor Mr. Ravi Bhoi said that the veracity of news is crucial and should not be compromised. Even if it takes time, news should be broadcast only after verification. Editor Mr. AN Dwivedi said that information should be disseminated to the public with utmost seriousness, based on the quality of the information and the impact it will have. Even a small mistake can lead to a major accident. Senior journalist Mr. Ashok Sahu said that if standards of credibility are followed in journalism, there is no risk of any kind of misleading information being spread.

Additional Director Mr. Umesh Mishra said that media credibility is a cornerstone of democracy and must be maintained at all costs. The media must also fulfill its responsibility and maintain vigilance against the rapidly spreading misinformation due to technological changes.
