School students were exposed to media education, learning about the nuances of TV studios and radio broadcasting.
Raipur. Students from Brahmavid The Global School conducted an educational tour of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication on Thursday. During the tour, the students were introduced to the field of mass communication and journalism. Addressing the students, Dr. Rajendra Mohanty, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, provided guidance on the possibilities in the field of mass communication. He stated that creativity is at the core of this education, without which the study remains incomplete. Students asked several important questions, including the success rate in the media field, the importance of journalism in students' lives, and whether creativity, intelligence, or behavior are more important. Answering all questions, Dr. Mohanty explained that media plays a crucial role in shaping society and influencing people's lives. First-semester BAMC students also shared their experiences with media education.
Following this, Dr. Nilesh Sahu, a teacher, introduced the students to the various systems of a community live radio station. He explained how RJs record programs, prepare scripts, and broadcast them. The students also recorded their own introductions and shared their views on the environment and contemporary issues on the radio.
Vinod Sawant explained the process of news broadcasting through a TV studio. Students closely observed the workings of a live news studio, the system for releasing breaking news, and the studio operations during a live broadcast. During the visit, students also gained hands-on experience with technical equipment such as the Panel Control Room (PCR), lighting, audio mixer, teleprompter, TriCaster, visual setup, and editing room. They also understood how the final output of live anchoring is created and the process by which frame selection is performed by TriCaster.
The students also visited the university library. The program was conducted by Chandrashekhar Shivare, the university coordinator. School teachers Abhishek Choubey, Shweta Sharma, Aishwarya Srivastava, and Shanmugpriya were present. From the university, Deepak Sahu, Jyoti Sahu, and first-semester BAMC students from the Department of Mass Communication assisted in the program.
