CG News: Under-construction houses under PM Awas Urban will receive full funding, announces Minister Arun Sao
CG News: News of significant relief has emerged for beneficiaries of the PM Housing Urban Scheme in Chhattisgarh. Urban Administration Minister Arun Sao clarified on Monday that all PM Housing Urban Scheme houses under construction in the state will receive full funding. He stated that the state government has sufficient budget available for this purpose, and beneficiaries need not worry.
In fact, the deadline for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) expires on December 31st. Previously, the state government issued a letter to urban local bodies stating that payments would not be made for unfinished houses until the deadline expired. This information alarmed beneficiaries of over 25,000 under-construction houses. The situation became so dire that many contractors even stopped work due to the fear of payment being withheld.
Clarifying the issue to CG News, Minister Arun Sao stated that all houses under construction under the scheme will receive full payment. He also clarified that no eligible beneficiary will be denied housing, even if the scheme's deadline expires.
Under the PM Awas Urban Scheme, a total of 243,261 houses were approved in various urban bodies across the state. Of these, 211,069 houses are to be built by beneficiaries on their own land, while 38,097 houses have been approved under affordable housing projects. Currently, approximately 25,000 houses are under construction under the scheme, and work on only 481 houses has not yet begun.
The Urban Administration Department has directed that all ongoing construction be completed by December 31st. The 481 houses that have not yet been started will be included in the PM Awas Urban 2.0 scheme. Minister Arun Sao reiterated that the state government is fully committed to providing housing to every eligible person.
