00 Approval received for the remaining Rs 22 crore 59 lakh for the construction of the hospital building
Raipur. Another major achievement has been achieved towards the expansion of health facilities in the state. Due to the special efforts of Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, the 200-bed district hospital building of Baikunthpur in Korea district, which was lying incomplete for years, will now be completed soon. The state government has approved Rs 22 crore 59 lakh for the remaining construction work of the hospital building by including it in the main budget year 2025-26.

In the 2020-21 financial year, administrative approval for this project was granted for ₹35 crore from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). Only ₹13 crore was released to the construction agency in six installments. Meanwhile, due to the division of Korea district and the formation of the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, funds from the DMF could not be allocated, and construction work stalled due to a lack of budget.

Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal took this sensitive issue seriously and conducted continuous review and coordination at the government level. Upon his direction, the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC) prepared a proposal and sent it to the state government, which was accepted and included in the main budget for 2025-26.

Now, with the approval of ₹22.59 crore (225.9 million rupees), construction work on the 200-bed district hospital building will resume. Its completion will provide advanced healthcare facilities to thousands of citizens in Korea district and border areas, and serious patients will no longer have to travel to larger cities for treatment. This decision is considered a decisive step toward strengthening the state's health infrastructure.
