Training workshop organized at Neemgaon reservoir on World Wetland Day
Detailed information was given about the role of the community in biodiversity conservation, water conservation and local livelihood.
Jashpurnagar . On the occasion of World Wetland Day, a training workshop and cleanliness drive was organised at Neemgaon reservoir premises yesterday under the chairmanship of Jashpur MLA Mrs. Raimuni Bhagat as the chief guest and Divisional Forest Officer Jashpur Shashi Kumar.
The program was started with the pledge to conserve, promote and keep the wetlands healthy. On this occasion, the people present were given detailed information about the ecological importance of wetlands, their role in biodiversity conservation, water conservation and local livelihood. During the program, through street play, an attempt was made to spread public awareness about maintaining the cleanliness of wetlands, ill effects of plastic waste and keeping the water bodies free from pollution, as well as water conservation, which was appreciated by the villagers and students present. After this, cleanliness drive was carried out in the water body premises and it was cleaned.
A large number of officials, employees, local public representatives, approximately 100 school students, and a large number of villagers were present on this occasion. At the end of the program, guests called for making wetland conservation a sustainable public movement and stressed the need to continue organizing such awareness and conservation programs in the future.
