Fire broke out in the Excise Building due to a short circuit.

Raipur. A fire broke out in the Excise Building located in the Labandhi area of ​​the capital, Raipur, on Saturday evening, due to an electrical short circuit. The incident is reported to have occurred around 8:30 pm on February 7, 2026. The fire broke out in a room on the third floor of the Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited office, destroying computers, printers, and a UPS. However, it is a matter of relief that no important documents were damaged in the incident. According to preliminary information, the cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit. During inspection, it was found that all important files and documents kept in the office were securely locked in iron shelves, preventing them from catching fire. At the time of the incident, a security guard on night duty at the Excise Building smelled a burning odor coming from a room on the third floor. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the guard immediately alerted other staff and summoned them to the scene. The staff then acted swiftly and controlled the fire with the help of firefighting equipment available in the building. The fire was contained to a limited area and was brought under control in time, preventing it from spreading to other rooms or floors. Upon inspection, it was clear that the fire only damaged the printer and UPS in the office. No other materials or other parts of the building were damaged. Upon receiving information about the incident, senior officials immediately arrived at the scene and assessed the situation. They inspected the scene and reviewed the cause of the fire. Subsequently, on the morning of February 8, 2026, the building was re-inspected by senior officials. This re-inspection confirmed that no important documents, records, or files were damaged in the fire. The incident also had no major impact on office operations. The administration stated that as a precautionary measure, the electrical system is being inspected to prevent similar incidents in the future. The functionality of the fire safety equipment is also being reviewed. Following this incident, employees and officials heaved a sigh of relief that the fire was brought under control in time, otherwise it could have caused significant damage. Currently, the situation is completely normal, and all activities in the building are operating smoothly.
