At the time of the incident, a security guard on night duty at the Excise Building smelled a burning odor coming from a room on the third floor. Subsequently, on the morning of February 8, 2026, the building was re-inspected by senior officials. This re-inspection confirmed that no important documents, records, or files were damaged in the fire. The incident also had no major impact on office operations. The administration stated that as a precautionary measure, the electrical system is being inspected to prevent similar incidents in the future.
