100% surcharge waiver and 75% rebate on principal amount for pending electricity bill payments is a historic step: Chimnani

Raipur. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state spokesperson Amit Chimnani stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the state government has taken the historic decision of implementing the Chief Minister's Electricity Bill Payment Solution Scheme-2026 to benefit lower- and middle-class families who are unable to pay their electricity bills due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other economic challenges. This decision will directly benefit more than 2.8 million consumers. Any consumer with a pending payment until March 31, 2023, will be eligible to benefit from this scheme.
Chimnani shared detailed details of this ambitious scheme through a demo presentation at a press conference held at the BJP office in the Ekatm Complex here on Friday. Chimnani stated that within the first few hours of the scheme's launch on March 12, approximately 5,000 consumers across the state joined the scheme. The scheme will remain in effect until June 30, 2026. Through this scheme, the government is providing consumers with a rebate of ₹758 crore. This initiative will prove to be a lifeline for consumers who were unable to pay their bills solely due to rising surcharges. Mr. Chimnani specifically mentioned the easy installment payment facility, stating that this scheme is not merely a formality; rather, the unprecedented arrangements made by the government to simplify the recovery of outstanding dues will motivate electricity consumers to take advantage. Under this scheme, a maximum of 60 installments have been fixed for amounts over ₹1 lakh, a maximum of 50 installments for amounts between ₹20,000 and ₹1 lakh, and a maximum of 40 installments for amounts under ₹20,000.

Chimnani stated that under this scheme, BPL families will receive a maximum 75 percent rebate on the principal amount, and APL families will receive a 10 percent rebate. Both will receive a 100 percent surcharge waiver.
Benefits will be available through the More Bijli App or the electricity office.
To avail the scheme, consumers can join online through the More Bijli App and the CSPDCL's official website. They can also join through help centers established at the nearest electricity office. Additionally, special camps will be organized across the state to ensure the scheme's benefits reach the last person. 
Subsidy of Rs. 13,537 crore paid in two years for electricity matters.
BJP State Spokesperson Mr. Chimanani, while discussing the state government's grants for electricity consumers, said that in the year 2024-25, the government provided a grant of Rs. 7,513 crore under various schemes for BPL consumers. This includes the outstanding grant of Rs. 1,294 crore from the previous government's tenure. A provision of Rs. 6,480 crore was made in the budget for the year 2025-26, of which Rs. 6,024 crore has already been disbursed by the government. 
The Centre provided Rs. 210 crore and the state provided Rs. 76 crore for the PM Surya Ghar.
BJP State spokesperson Mr. Chimanani said that in the Prime Minister Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, subsidy of Rs. 210 crore has been given by the Central Government and Rs. 76 crore by the State.
Be cautious of cyber frauds.
Mr. Chimanani said that avail the benefits of this scheme only through More Bijli App or your nearest electricity office, avoid becoming a victim of any kind of cyber fraud, avoid falling prey to any person and using any other medium to avail the benefits of this scheme of waiving pending electricity bills. BJP State spokespersons Pramod Sharma and Mrs. Shatabdi Pandey were also present during the press conference.
