Leaving the gun behind the wheel of a tractor: A new beginning for surrendered Naxalites in Narayanpur

Those who never touched a bicycle are now learning to drive and repair tractors.

40 rehabilitated people joined the mainstream of democracy

The Livelihood College (Rehabilitation Center) in Raipur, Narayanpur district, is today giving new life to those who once strayed and took up arms. Thanks to a unique initiative by the district administration, surrendered Naxalites are not only returning to mainstream society but are also rapidly progressing toward a respectable and self-reliant life.

Voter ID card gives you a new identity

The administration has taken concrete steps to connect rehabilitated people with government services and the democratic process. In this regard, new voter ID cards have been issued and distributed to eight rehabilitated people. Similarly, online registration for 25 people has been completed. Forty people have filled out Form 6 to exercise their right to vote in this biggest celebration of democracy.

I never rode a bicycle, now I want to drive a tractor.”

Recently, the Collector conducted a surprise inspection of the rehabilitation center. During this visit, 40 surrendered Naxalites living there expressed a special wish. They wanted to learn to drive tractors, as well as receive training in their repair and maintenance. This demand was both intriguing and challenging, as many of them had never even ridden a bicycle.

Sensing the sensitivity of this demand and their enthusiasm, the Collector took immediate action without delay. As a result, a tractor training program was launched at the Livelihood College on Monday.

New chapter of change

Now, all these rehabilitated individuals are regularly learning the nuances of tractor operation. The training includes driving, tractor technical knowledge, and repair skills. This training is not just a skill development program, but will also become a strong source of livelihood for these families.

From the shadows of fear to the sunshine of hope

Today, the faces of those living in this rehabilitation center in Narayanpur have clearly reflected the uncertainty and fear of the past, giving way to confidence and satisfaction about the future. By taking advantage of the state government's public welfare schemes, these people are now ready to contribute to the country's development like ordinary citizens.

This center in Narayanpur is no longer just a shelter, but has become a symbol of change, trust, and a new beginning.
