NITI Aayog has emerged as an important pillar of the country's policy-making system: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that NITI Aayog has emerged as an important pillar of the country's policy-making system. It is playing a vital role in promoting cooperative federalism, driving reforms and promoting ease of living.

PM Modi congratulated Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri on becoming the Vice Chairman and congratulated other full-time members, saying that the institution is working as a dynamic platform for innovation and long-term strategy making in different sectors. Sharing a post on the social media platform, he wrote, “The government has reconstituted NITI Aayog. My best wishes to Ashok Kumar Lahiri on becoming the Vice Chairman. Also, congratulations to Rajiv Gauba, Prof. K. V. Raju, Prof. Gobardhan Das, Prof. Abhay Karandikar and Dr. M. Srinivas on becoming full-time members.”

PM Modi wished everyone for their tenure and said that they should complete an effective and result-oriented tenure.

Prime Minister Modi also met with Lahiri and congratulated her on becoming Vice President. He stated that Lahiri's experience in economics and public policy will further strengthen India's reforms and contribute to the goal of a "developed India." The Prime Minister expressed confidence that her efforts will further energize the country's policy-making process.

Lahiri is an experienced policymaker and previously served as India's 12th Chief Economic Advisor. He has also served as a member of the 15th Finance Commission and held senior positions at international institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. He has also been associated with several leading academic and policy institutions, including the Delhi School of Economics, the Asian Development Bank, and the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy
