Significant achievement of the Neurosurgery Department of RIMS Ranchi: Successful operation of brain tumor through approximately one inch incision in the brain.
Ranchi. The Department of Neurosurgery at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, has achieved a significant milestone. Sonia Khatoon, a 42-year-old resident of Dhanbad, suffering from neurofibromatosis and oligodendroglioma (a type of brain tumor), underwent a successful brain tumor surgery. The patient had several other health problems, making anesthesia and surgical preparation challenging. To ensure patient safety and a proper pre-operative medical evaluation, consultations were conducted with various departments and necessary clearances were obtained. This achievement exemplifies precise surgical planning, clinical expertise, and excellent coordination between various departments.
The neurosurgery team, led by Dr. Anand Prakash, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, successfully removed the tumor through an incision approximately one inch deep in the brain. The operation included Dr. Anand Prakash, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, Dr. Narayan, and Dr. Kumar Deepak, while the anesthesia team included Dr. Mukesh, Dr. Rajesh, Dr. Vashishtha, Dr. Kshitij, and Dr. Adhishri. Despite the patient's complex medical condition, the coordinated efforts of neurosurgery, anesthesia, and other related departments played a significant role in successfully completing this challenging operation. The patient is currently under close observation. It is hoped that with her recovery, she will soon be able to resume her normal daily activities. RIMS Ranchi continues to strive to provide advanced and state-of-the-art neurosurgical treatment to patients in Jharkhand.
