Jashpur to Raipur journey to be easier, economic corridor being built at a cost of ₹3147 crore
A 104-km four-lane road will pass through the district under the Bharat Mala project; trade, tourism and employment will be boosted.
Raipur: To improve road connectivity in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh, the Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor is being constructed under the Bharatmala project.
Under this project, costing approximately ₹3,147 crore, approximately 104 kilometers of four-lane road will pass through Jashpur district. This project, which is progressing thanks to the efforts of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, is expected to improve the district's road connectivity with the capital Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba, and the neighboring state of Jharkhand.
Upon completion, this approximately 707-kilometer-long economic corridor will provide greater access to Jashpur and surrounding areas. This will allow residents to access larger cities for healthcare, higher education, and other essential needs.
It will take less time to reach Raipur
The project is expected to ease travel from Jashpur to the capital Raipur. With improved road connectivity, it is estimated that the journey will take approximately 5 to 6 hours. However, actual travel time will depend on road availability, traffic, and project operations.
Farmers and businessmen benefit
With the construction of four-lane road, it can become easier to transport agricultural produce, vegetables and forest produce to big markets.
Farmers and businesses are likely to benefit from reduced transportation times. Road construction and the expansion of transportation facilities could also increase local employment and self-employment opportunities.
Tourism will gain momentum
Known for its natural beauty and tribal culture, Jashpur has tourist destinations like Mayali Nature Camp, Madheshwar Mountain, Ranidah Falls and Kailash Cave.
Improved road connectivity is expected to increase tourist traffic, which could boost businesses related to hotels, homestays, local transport, catering, and handicrafts.
Emphasis on road as well as rail connectivity
Along with the construction and upgrading of national highways and rural roads in the district, efforts are also being made to increase rail connectivity. The approval for the proposed rail line from Lohardaga to Dharamjaigarh has been published in the Central Gazette.
Expanding road and rail networks, including the Economic Corridor, could help connect remote rural and tribal areas of Jashpur with better transportation facilities. This would increase the potential for expanding trade, tourism, and economic activities in the district.
