Two drops of life will be administered on June 28 in the Pulse Polio campaign in Bastar.

Jagdalpur. The administration has geared up for the successful conduct of the National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign, scheduled for June 28, 2026, in Bastar district. To ensure the successful implementation of the campaign and inter-departmental coordination, a meeting of the District Task Force was held under the chairmanship of Collector Akash Chhikara. During this meeting, the Collector directed all district-level officials to establish better coordination with their field staff and ensure extensive publicity at every level to achieve the campaign's 100% target.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Sanjay Basak, while providing information on the preparations for this mega campaign, stated that this year, Bastar district has set an ambitious target of administering polio drops to a total of 120,804 children aged 0 to 5 years under the National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign. To achieve this massive target on time, 498 approved booths have been set across the district, with 100 supervisors deployed to monitor them. In addition, 1,992 vaccination workers, 20 mobile teams, and 24 transit teams will be on the ground. In the Jagdalpur urban area alone, a total of 72 booths have been set up. The administration has adopted a special strategy this time, whereby mobile teams will be actively deployed in high-risk areas such as markets, fairs, fair grounds, brick kilns, construction sites, nomadic settlements, bus stands, and railway stations to ensure that every child visiting those areas receives the polio vaccine.

The Health Department has also emphasized the need to remain vigilant regarding the polio situation in the country and the state. Although there are currently no positive cases of polio in India, and no new cases have been reported in the country since 2011, in Chhattisgarh since 2002, and in Bastar district since 1996, the threat is not completely over. Positive polio cases are still being reported in neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan and Afghanistan, posing a threat to our country. To this end, health workers will administer polio drops to children at designated booths across India on June 28, 2026, and then door-to-door on June 29 and 30, 2026, to strengthen herd immunity against polio and completely neutralize the wild polio virus present in the environment.
