Adhiraj Group director faces multi-crore fraud charges; sister and brother-in-law file complaint

Raipur. A case of alleged fraud involving relationships masquerading as a business partnership has come to light in Raipur, the capital. A businessman associated with the Adhiraaj Group has been accused of defrauding his sister and brother-in-law of approximately ₹1.25 crore. Based on the victim's complaint, the Telibandha police station has registered a case under various sections, including fraud, forgery, and forgery, and has begun an investigation.

According to police, Shivangi Garg (43), a resident of Nagpur, stated in her complaint that her brother, Shubham Singhal, and sister-in-law, Jaya Singhal, ran a partnership firm in Raipur called Adhiraj Cement and later, Adhiraj Tradelink. In 2020, she and her husband were duped into investing approximately ₹1.25 crore in cash and through bank accounts at various times, under the promise of expanding the business and doubling their investment returns.

According to the complaint, some money was initially returned in the name of profits to maintain trust, but later the payments were stopped. Upon requesting the return of their investment, the couple was made partners in both firms on April 4, 2025. Even then, the money was not returned.

The matter came to light when Shivangi Garg obtained documents from the Registrar of Firms under the Right to Information (RTI). The documents revealed that her signature was allegedly forged on the partnership deed for March and April 2026, showing her as retired from the firm. The victim claims she was not even present in Raipur on those dates.

Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and have begun examining the documents. Further action will be taken after verifying the veracity of the allegations.
