Social and economic empowerment of workers is given top priority*

Raipur, August 7, 2026/ In the last two and a half years, the Labour Department has set an example of security, respect and prosperity. In the last two and a half years, the Chhattisgarh government has given top priority to the social and economic empowerment of workers and has taken many historic initiatives. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the state government has not limited labour welfare to schemes only, but has worked to bring positive changes in the lives of workers by linking it with good governance, transparency and technological innovation. Under the guidance of Labour and Industry Minister Lakhanlal Devangan, the department has made extensive reforms to ensure speedy and easy delivery of scheme benefits to workers.

*The social and economic condition of workers is improving*

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is running several schemes for the betterment of workers and their families. Through these schemes, the social and economic condition of workers is improving. 67 welfare schemes are being implemented through various Labour Welfare Boards to protect the interests of organized, unorganized and construction workers in the state. To make the registration, assistance and benefits of schemes more transparent and easy for workers, the Labour Department has developed a new user-friendly website shramvjayate.ch.gov.in and Shramev Jayate mobile app, through which workers are now easily availing the benefits of online application, registration and other facilities.

*Along with employment generation, labour rights are also getting strengthened*

In the past two and a half years, the Labor Department has strengthened its administrative system. Twenty posts have been created to establish labor officer offices in five new districts (Mohla-Manpur-Ambagadh, Chowki, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, and Sakti). Currently, Assistant Labor Commissioner offices operate in 10 districts, and Labor Officer offices in 23 districts. Thus, labor offices have been operational in all 33 districts of the state. Departmental capacity has also been enhanced by making appointments to various positions. Several important amendments have been made to labor laws to establish a better balance between industries and workers. Several decisions, including the effective implementation of the Shops and Establishments Act, fixed-term employment, night work for women workers, and extensions to factory licenses, have strengthened labor rights while also creating employment.

*Around 17.82 lakh workers benefited through various schemes*

The most notable achievement of the Labor Department has been worker registration and benefit distribution. Approximately 12.65 lakh new workers were registered between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2026. Approximately 17.82 lakh workers were benefited through various schemes, with an expenditure of over ₹800 crore. Assistance of approximately ₹780 crore was provided to construction workers and approximately ₹187 crore to unorganized workers. A Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system has been implemented to make benefit distribution transparent.

*Chief Minister's Labour Assistance Centre operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week*

The establishment of Chief Minister Labour Resource Centres has proved to be a big relief for the labourers. Chief Minister Labour Assistance Centre is being operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. By organizing mobile camps across the state, problems related to registration, renewal and applications of lakhs of labourers have been resolved. Due to this, even the labourers of remote areas are getting the benefits of government services near their homes. The state government has also strengthened the social security cover of labourer families. Under the Chief Minister Construction Labour Housing Assistance Scheme, the housing assistance amount has been increased to Rs 1.50 lakh. Thousands of families have received financial support through death and disability assistance, scholarships, education assistance for children of labourer families and other schemes.

*Maternity assistance to over 1.60 lakh women workers*

Significant progress has also been made towards the respect and safety of women workers. Under the Minimata Mahatari Jatan Yojana, maternity assistance was provided to over 1.60 lakh women workers in the construction and unorganized sectors. Meanwhile, through the 'Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Shramik Anna Yojana', nutritious food is being provided to registered workers for just 5 rupees. Keeping in mind the bright future of workers' children, meritorious education assistance, free competitive exam coaching, and scholarship schemes are being effectively implemented. Thousands of students have benefited from these schemes, giving new wings to the dreams of working families.

*Chhattisgarh's new identity in the field of labour welfare*

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the resolve to integrate worker welfare into the mainstream of development is being effectively implemented by the Labor Department under the leadership of Labor and Industry Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan. Transparent systems, technological innovation, prompt service, social security, and a sense of worker respect have given Chhattisgarh a new identity in the field of worker welfare. This journey of two and a half years is not just a story of schemes and statistics, but a new beginning that has brought trust, security, and prosperity to millions of working families.
