Delhi. Seven people were killed in a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district on Saturday morning. The deceased included three women and four men. Eleven passengers were injured in the accident. All the injured were initially taken to Teesa Hospital, where they were then referred to Chamba Medical College after receiving first aid. The accident erupted in chaos.

According to Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani, the private bus departed from Bairagarh for Chamba at around 7 a.m. A short distance from Bairagarh, near the Chalunj turn, the Sharma Coach bus suddenly lost control. It then overturned and landed on another road. The bus was carrying approximately 18 passengers, including the driver and conductor. These included six children aged between 4 and 18 years old.

Passengers were evacuated by removing the bus with the help of JCB.

Upon receiving news of the accident, locals rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. Several passengers were trapped inside the bus after it overturned. With the help of the police, residents pulled the injured out. A JCB was used to remove the bus from the road. According to eyewitnesses, cries for help were heard from inside the bus immediately after the accident.

Those who lost their lives in the accident were identified as Jagdev Sharma (48), his wife Hardei (45), Desraj (35), Tej Singh (30), Jagdei (24), Neelma (34) and bus driver Roop Singh (35).

5,000 each to the injured

The local administration has provided immediate relief of ₹5,000 each to all 11 passengers injured in the accident. Relief funds have also been promised to the families of the deceased soon. Children are among the injured passengers.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep sorrow over the accident. He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment for the injured
