30th installment of Mahatari Vandan Yojana released: Rs 630.55 crore transferred to the accounts of 67.20 lakh women
Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai released the 30th installment of Mahatari Vandan Yojana from the Chief Minister's residence office on Friday and transferred an amount of Rs 630 crore 55 lakh 54 thousand 300 to the bank accounts of 67 lakh 20 thousand 125 eligible women of the state through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade, Principal Secretary Shehla Nigar and Departmental Director Dr. Renuka Srivastava were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that Mahatari Vandan Yojana is one of the most important schemes of the state government towards giving a respectable and self-reliant life to women by empowering them economically.
He said that when the women power is economically strong, the development of the family, society and the state gets a new impetus.
He said that this scheme is not only limited to financial assistance of Rs 1000 per month, but is also strengthening the self-confidence, decision-making ability and social participation of women.
Women are using the scheme funds to meet their children's education, health, nutrition, and family needs. Many women are investing in the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) while also earning additional income by starting small self-employment ventures like sewing, dairy, grocery stores, animal husbandry, incense stick manufacturing, and other small businesses.
The Chief Minister said that good governance means delivering schemes to the last person in a transparent manner. Through the DBT system, monthly assistance funds are directly credited to beneficiaries' accounts, which has increased transparency and strengthened women's trust in governance.
It is worth noting that the Mahatari Vandan Yojana is applicable in the entire state from March 1, 2024. After the release of the 30th installment, an amount of more than Rs 19,444.33 crore has been transferred to the accounts of women under the scheme so far.
The government says that this scheme is playing an important role in building a developed Chhattisgarh by becoming a strong foundation for women's economic empowerment, self-reliance and inclusive development.
