Jashpur farmer Anarath Sai adopted modern farming, National Horticulture Mission transformed his financial situation
Jashpurnagar - Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, farmers are being continuously encouraged to cultivate crops other than paddy. In this regard, Anarath Sai, a farmer from Patratoli village, who has benefited from the Horticulture Department, is successfully cultivating oil palm.
Farmer Anrath Sai, taking advantage of the Horticulture Department's scheme, is also cultivating modern grafted tomatoes in a shade net house established on 1 acre of protected cultivation under the National Horticulture Mission Scheme. He also received a grant of 14.20 lakh rupees from the Horticulture Department, for a total cost of 28.40 lakh rupees.
Farmer Anarath Sai explained that mango and litchi trees have been planted in a 2-hectare orchard under the Integrated Horticulture Development Scheme. He described the farmer's adoption of intercropping, such as strawberries, tomatoes, and cauliflower, by making good use of the vacant space between his main crops, as an example for other farmers. He said that this integrated farming system can generate a steady income year-round at a low cost.
